Hi,

Just bought my first car, since moving to usa from uk a couple of years ago. Having had just BMWs and Audis previously, I thought the Genesis offered awesome value.

Two weeks ago, I bought a CPO ( well they said it was but turned out it had not been donex so I am at the dealership right now getting it done for fee) 2012 Genesis 3.8 with nav and tech package, black with biege interior, 38k on clock for 19k cash . Did I get an ok deal? I chose this 3.8 over a similar 4.6 as I did not feel the 4.6 engine was worth the extra 5k they were asking over my 3.8 with tech package.

Anyway, one MAJOR issue I have found is that I cannot stream music via BT, so for now I have connected a 3.5mm aux jack. What am I doing wrong ? Seems crazy that I cannot figure out how to stream music via BT , on a high end car, using technology 8 year old cars have. The 17 speaker system is awesome , but it is a nightmare having my galaxy s5 with one lead in the top, another charging in the bottom and then only being able to balance it in the cup holder to change content! Not very luxurious at all. Also, is there a way I can get it to remember my settings as each time I turn on the car , I have to manually change radio and aux to surround setting?

I will never use it for phone calls and I do not need to call and drive , just play loud music, so the only thing I need BT for is music.

I will also, never use that satnav as it is way out of date from both a data and functionality point of view - that is what google and Waze is for. Is there any way I can turn off the annoying warning that comes on the screen each time , from the satnav , about being careful when driving blah blah blah?

Lastly, as I am sat here at the dealership, is there important things they should do as part of the CPO , that I should look out for, like new brakes, oul change, air filter etc?

Thanks for listening!

It is an awesome car , but freaking annoying too. I guess that is the kind of attention to detail you get with BMW.

Hello

Welcome to the family!!
Sorry you feel that the Genny is a headache. Give it time, you will figure it out. As far as BT streaming, here is a tip as I figured it out when I got mine.
Make sure your phone is connected via BT. On your steering wheel, hit the MODE button a few times. Look at your screen and you will see it say, "Streaming". That is how I did it and works 100%!!! I stream from Soundcloud and Pandora. I have '12 Premium so I assume it is about the same.

Hope that helps

If it is a CPO unit then they should have done the 150 point inspection. Routine maintenance should have been completed already as well, but they wouldn't be required to do it again 2 weeks later if that is what you are asking. Make sure you get your second proximity key because that is a requirement for the CPO program.

Get yourself a phone mount but otherwise you cannot stream BT wirelessly in your model. You will have to acknowledge the disclosure from Hyundai every time and set your particular settings each time as well.

Lastly, the price you paid is very good coming from a Hyundai sales person.

Welcome aboard mate..
The 2012 3.8 is an excellent car, but only 2013-2014 f(G1) can do BT streaming.
@ $19k sounds like a good deal according KBB, the 4.6 seems to be priced around market value.

[EDIT]: you can get a bluetooth adapter that you can plug into the AUX jack under arm rest, one example:
http://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Streambo...09951&sr=8-11&keywords=ipod+bluetooth+adapter

Correction. All non-Tech Package 2012 sedan models stream Bluetooth audio. In other words, the Base and Premium Package models DO stream BT audio, but the Tech Package DOES NOT. Yes, odd, but that's the way it is. Starting with '13, all models stream BT audio.

I was annoyed by the lack of BT audio also. I did find an amazing solution to the problem though: See Here. I also found a really good mount that puts the phone is a very good position to use Waze: And Here. The only other major annoyance I have now is the lack of storage space...

Ambush, would you consider starting a thread on BT streaming from sites like Pandora and Soundcloud? Might be productive to help some of us get more into that. Of course, BT streaming eats up cell phone data minutes. I'd like to hear how folks are handling that issue. I'd really like to kiss Sirius XM goodbye and BT streaming is the current best alternative.

WOW. I was not aware of that. Kinda happy that I did not get the tech package. Some features such backup sensors is something i wish i had but I have no issues streaming. Everything sounds crystal clear thanks to Lexicon...

:)

Hi

I could start one but I am pretty sure if you search someone has prob already started a nice thread about it. As far as streaming, just install the App on your phone of which you are interested in. I use Soundcloud because I am a music producer and love instrumental music and some of the artist I follow. Pandora you can setup artist you like and not many repeat songs like you would hear ALLLLL of the time on XM radio (I let mine lapse last month because of that. There are a few talk shows I like but man!).
I use my boost mobile phone so it is just one price every month and I do not have to worry about data. The longest I am in my car is when I go to work on Mondays and then back home on Fridays (3.5 hr ride).

Does the 2012 Tech have the Juke Box feature?
If it does, you could put a few thousand songs on the hard drive.

I use a USB drive and just jam from that sometimes too..(WMA/MP3/WAV)
I love that has become the standard in cars these days.

Hi,

So I just came back from a business trip and on way home from airport, the ABS, auto hold, esc and epb yellow warning lights are on - all the way home. Any ideas why they would all be on at the same time , only bought the car 5 weeks ago and it went through cpo inspection just 2 weeks ago. Thx

I have never had that happen to me but did you stop, shut down the car and restart it? This this is like a computer. Just sometimes it needs to be rebooted :D

Yes. It is there the whole time, have used it 5 times since it happened and always the same. Is there anyway to reset the computers ?

There is a reset button on the dash for the head unit but not one for the car that I know of.
