Unless the reduced size hampers visibility of the gauges for certain drivers. I personally find the steering wheel size just about right. The only thing I would change would be to add paddle shifters and a "bulge" at the 10 and 2 position for you to rest your thumbs.

I measures the steering wheel on the 2010 and from outside to outside is 14,7/8 inches. I don't know what the size of the 09's are.

Hyundai is trying to move as many of the 2009's as possible before they push the 2010's. Besides the 2010's are selling well for the dealers that currently have them.
