If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I finally picked up my brand new 2012 Genesis 3.8 with the Premium Package and Technology Package in Titanium with Black Interior. So far I have not had time to play with it that much, but so far I LOVE the car!!

I got a 36 month lease, with 15k per year, for $489 per month. Nothing at signing, just paid first month $489 out the door. What does everyone think of this deal? Good? Bad?

The only thing that I am really disappointed in is that it does not include BT audio streaming. I cant believe that my friends Sonata has this, and this car does not. I know they are adding it for '13, but I knew that I would not be able to get a deal close to this when the '13 roll out.

Does anyone think, or hope, that they will have a softare update to include BT audio streaming?

I went from a Sonata 2.0T loaded to a base model Genesis 3.8.. and I really don't miss the BT streaming.. I have my USB port, FM, AM, XM/Sirius and CD player - I honestly think you will do fine without it.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

that's a good payment.
i'm paying $1000/mo, but that's financing $36k over 3 yrs at 0% interest.

I would probably not miss the BT streaming if I didnt use it every day in my Maxima that I have had for the past 3 years. LOL

I might reach out to Hyundai and see if they have any plans to update the firmware to allow this.

I just reached out to Hyundai and sent this message:

"I am reaching out to let you know that I am the proud owner of a new 2012 Genesis Sedan 3.8 with Premium and Tech Packages. I have to say that I love the car and am very happy with my selection. There is one thing that bothers me very much, and I wanted to reach out to you for more information.

It seems that this car has all the great features of high end luxury cars - except one. It seems to be missing the ability to stream Bluetooth audio with the Prem and Tech Packages. This is very confusing since it seems that this ability is included in the base version of the car. Why would the fully loaded version of the same car REMOVE this feature? This is an extremely important omission, and after doing research online, it seems that there are forums loaded with ANGRY customers that feel the same way I do. You really need to quickly roll out a software/firmware update to resolve this glaring issue. Can you please let me know if/when you plan to do this for customers that own the 2012 model?"

Lets see what their response is, I will post whatever I get back from them

ANGRY customers....?? That's a bit of an exaggeration based upon the feedback here so far
We can't even get a Mapping Software update that is (at least) 2 years overdue, so don't hold your breath for Bluetooth Streaming.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Genesis, but the on-board Driver Interface Software is not one of its greatest assets.

+1
Where is all this bluetooth outrage? I haven't seen it anyplace.

I've seen several posts venting surprise and anger that their tech package didn't include BT audio. I say let this guy write his own complaint letter.

 Maybe I'm still a bit old fashioned in this area, I prefer plugging mine in through the Auxiliary/USB. Until they find a way to make the wireless BT audio stream at a high and consistent rate there is always going to be some loss of sound quality....but that's just me I guess, truly wish that DVD-A's were still being produced, once you listen to one everything else sounds low quality by comparison.

Not to mention that a phonograph record can produce better sound....

hmmm, I wonder if they made a turntable with a USB connector that I can put in the Genesis!! LOL

But I can tell you this, I used the BT streaming in my Maxima every day so while there is a degradation of sound quality, it is not that much different. And the convenience of playing music through my Android handset, with Google Music or Rhapsody is something I will miss.

I would at least like the option to choose my music source since people that have the base model have the option.

Hyundai should be ashamed that the absence of BT streaming is unclear in its advertising, especially since the other two audio packages have it and the Tech package does not.

Either I'm too old or you guys are just way to young.

So what the car dosen't have bluetooth streaming. There are much better ways to get the audio in the car, AND at a better quality.

Maybe Hyundai didn't put in the bluetooth because of the high end audio system in the car and they didn't want to degrade the sound with bluetooth? Ever think of it like that? Maybe Lexicon/Harmon Kardon didn't build it into the system for the same reasons.

Why get so bent out of shape over something so trivial? Get a Ipod and load your music. Get some CD's or better yet, DVD-A and really enjoy the music. Lifes too short to sweat the small stuff.

Aint that the truth (I wish there were a "Werd" icon).

Anyway, to the OP, :welcome:! Sorry about the lack of streaming; hopefully that doesn't degrade your ownership experience too much.

I think you got a good deal. Leased the same car (36 months) with same packages + Genesis badges, 12k per year, zero out of pocket and rolled the 1st payment into lease. $525/mo. Love the car too!!

This is very similar to the conversation surrounding the navigation system being outdated.

The bottom line is, the BlueLink interface is the future for Hyundai. All their redesigned cars will have it (and even the 2013 Genesis Sedan has been upgraded to BL). As such, there is no support for us who are stuck with the old systems. FYI, BlueLink has updated Nav *AND* bluetooth streaming.

It sucks, believe me... especially since I just bought my car a few months ago.

Of course, there are workaround solutions for most of these issues. It just takes a little MacGyvering, is all.

BUMP for dissapointment of lack of bluetooth streaming on the TOP of the line version of this car. Anyone saying its ok that its missing is just justifying the lack of inclusion. It is RIDICULOUS that it is removed from the car ONLY if you get the "technology" package....seeing as it actually REMOVES a popular piece of technology. I drove a fully loaded 2010 Camry the past 3 years and it had Bluetooth Streaming (A2DP) and I used it everyday. The audio quality was not even close to terrible, it was VERY good, and I pretty much stopped using my iPod in the car (also the iPod interface was awful in the camry and MUCH better in the Genesis). It is also pretty awful that they don't even really tell you that you LOSE A2DP with the tech package....and none of the salesmen have any clue at all. I love this car...don't get me wrong, but yes the blue link and new nav are very nice and we should get at least a marginal upgrade....I can promise that adding A2DP to the DIS unit would be a simple software upgrade.....

FWIW i just leased a 12 genesis 3.8 with tech/prem and am paying 510 a month, which was a smokin deal compared to all the offers i got statewide (in AZ). So 489 is a great deal!

Well I spoke to the dealer that I bought my car through yesterday, and voiced my disappointment about being told the car has BT streaming, and not finding out until I got the car home that it didnt. While this may not have been a deal breaker, the dealer sales reps should know the features of the cars that they sell - or at least verify it before they give you an answer.

The manager said he was going to reach out to his district manager and find out more info on a software update to allow the BT streaming.

Big shock...no call back in 2 days now.

Its the attention to detail like this that will keep Hyundai from being a top tier car brand.

You're right- it wasn't a deal breaker but I think the best thing to do would be sent a letter to the GM of the dealership and one to Hyundai of North America. You never know-you might get a few free oil changes or maybe a voucher from H.N.A.
