  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been poking around the forum & haven't seen anyone posting pics of the European Genesis. My mom's side of the family is from Germany, & since her passing I've renovated one of the houses I inherited. For the past few years we had a '96 Honda over here that worked just fine. With some kids on the way I wanted to get something a bit more comfortable & well cool. I have to say, for the two days that I've driven it it's a real blast. If this car was sold as-is in the US I would snatch it up in an instant.

Congrats!! I do think that soft close door feature is cool, what did you think about it?

Cool & interesting yes, but usefull ehhh. Really the only use it has would be if you were trying to sneak in at night. It was a conversation piece last night when we took some friends out to dinner.

Nice! Welcome! You got the fastest color! ;-)

It shows CLASS baby! A Mercedes S Class with the same feature is almost expected :)

Like breadman said it screams class...I doubt half your cars in you garage I would find "useful" but they are still cool as hell. What did you think of the 360 Camera view, Compared to other upper class cars? I test drove a maxima (lame comparison I know) but I did find the 360 camera system to be some what useful.

Do your rear seats recline??? I wasn't aware this was available in Europe.

Disagree. On cars which are airtight like the Genesis, soft close doors would be useful. Many have complained that the doors require a little extra heft to close, the downside of a car so well built. Some cars will lower the window of the car a slight bit when closing he door to make it easier, especially 2 door cars where the door is larger. Soft close doors should have been standard on a car like this and would be more than a "show off" feature.

Welcome and congrats!

Thank you!

True true, my S-Class in the US has this feature as well but I honestly cannot tell you the last time I used it or if I ever have except when the dealer wanted me to try it out so I indulged him to get out of their quicker.

Oh I completely agree! I have always wanted to have the most practical in the sense of features, seating, comfort, performance & looks. In my mind the car that exemplifies all of those qualities is the S63 AMG. That & the Range Rover & E-Wagon are the cars that are "useful". I would include the Tesla but the supercharger network is years away from where it needs to be & some tweaking on the batteries must also be done to improve range (then I would call it usefull). With the S63 I can go 0-60 3.5-7 seconds (I've had a few mods done to trim the time down), haul 4-5 people in comfort, while still carrying luggage. It offers the speed & performance that I can really legally exert on the road. The other cars are more for car shows (past time of my dad that rubbed off on me) where I can go & admire the classics or taking them out on the track. Now onto the surround view (or area view as they call it here). The cameras don't seem to be as clear & well stitched together as my S-Class but that's something a simple software update will bring (they just seem a tad out of focus). The usability is about the same, I enjoy using it but really I like the 180 degrees backup camera so I can peak around corners. I wish that Mercedes & other car manufactures included what BMW did years ago (and maybe still does) which were the two little cameras mounted on the front fender so you could look both ways before creeping out of your driveway.

Yes, they slide forward basically. You can adjust the bottom part of the seat to slide forward or backward & then tilt the upright portion of the seat forward/backward as well. They're kinda like a stab at the upper luxury market, but don't truly hit it. No executive would want to ride in the back of this if given the choice of an S-Class or 7 Series (they offer much more adjustable & functions). I see this aimed more towards the people who enjoy driving their car but still want some rear seat luxury (one of the few sub 100K euro cars that offer ventilated seats in the back).

I haven't had any problem closing the doors. I do agree that the build quality is impressive. Everything that you see here is standard, they don't have an ultimate or tech package here in Europe, it's all or nothing. You choose the paint & interior colors.

Out of interest, is there a Diesel engine option yet for the Genesis in Europe?
