  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Last night I took delivery of my new Genesis 3.8 with premium plus package. Its the Cabrenet Red Pearl with the beige interior. It already had the wing emblems and the stainless pillar trim on it.
I was at the dealer just looking and ended up driving it home.
I feel I got a good deal. I traded in my 2004 Mercedes E320 4matic 90K miles. They gave me $18K for my Benz (I only paid $14K for it in Jan.) Then they discounted the Genesis from $36K to $31K.
So I paid: my Benz and $15,191 out the door.

They only thing I want to do is: get the wing emblem for the steering wheel, I would like to get matching wood trim for the large dash piece and the doors across where the seat memory is. Suggestions? I dont want a big kit.

Steering wheel wings. I have read through here.....It looks like I should remove the H and then trim down the plastic so the emblem fits flush. ??

brihvac, your post caught my eye because I had a Mercedes as well. Was there anything in particular that moved you away from the Mercedes outside of miles?

Miles didnt bother me at all. Im sure it would have run another 90K with no troubles. I have owned 6 Hyundais and never had any problems. What motivaded me is that they discounted from $36K to $31K, and then they gave me $18K for a car I bought 3 months ago for $14K.
Now I have a new car with a great warranty.
I will tell you this: the Genesis is no Mercedes. I dont care what anyone says.

Quieter, smoother acceleration, the Benz Harmon and Kardon radio is incredible(if you have never heard one dont comment), smoother handling at higher speed on twisty roads, and tighter steering.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Genesis. It is a larger car than the E320. I hope it gets as good of mileage as my E320. It was all wheel drive and got 23mpg

DON'T remove the 'H' No need to. Wings designed to fit over it beautifully.

I had pretty much the same experience. Quieter, no doubt, the E500 I had was built like a tank. I thought the Harmon Kardon stereo was good but could be better. Steering and handling at high speeds, the Mercedes for me was hard to beat here. The E500 had a sports suspension mode that was incredible.

So why did I sell it? I was surprised to hear you say acceleration. Yes, I found when I really punched on the gas the Mercedes would go but for city driving I was very frustrated with that car. The transmission always acted very strange to me. If you let your foot off the gas it would slow down exponentially and you could feel the transmission "drag." I've driven many Mercedes and they all exhibit this issue, at least the E class. Conversely, I found the Genesis to be responsive for city driving and much more enjoyable. Just my two cents.

Mine would act the same way if I had the trans. in Comfort mode. In Sport mode there was no drag and it was quick.
The reason it drags is because, in Comfort mode, it does not use 1st gear. It starts and ends in 2nd gear.
You had your trans in Comfort mode.

Sounds about right with my old Lexus with 2ND start.

No, I actually kept the transmission in Sport mode all the time. I found comfort mode to be completely aggravating. At least in sport mode I found the car to go from 0 - 10 pretty well. However, 10 - 40 was a nightmare for me. It is like I would press on the gas pedal and it would only slightly accelerate. It was only until I really gave it a good amount of gas would it pep up and move. I found the car unpredictable and it simply wasn't fun to drive in the city. Now above 40 mph was a completely different story. I had the E500 so it had 3 different suspension modes: comfort, Sport 1, and Sport 2. I kept it mostly in Sport 2 for the sportiest drive. On the interstate with winding roads was just wonderful but the poor city driving made me hate the car. YMMV
