  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just purchased a 2011 Equus. Awesome car, but noticed this morning the rear suspension had dropped all the way. When I started the car it raised to normal and has been fine. I've read somewhere that the suspension lowers after a few hours on the 2011. Not sure if that is the case.

I have a 2011 Equus and I have never had the rear end lower overnight. It sounds like you may have a leak in one of the air lines or the air bags. I have noticed the front end lowers a half inch or so (depending on where it is parked) after I shut off the engine. Have you had it checked out by the dealership?

The air suspension on my '14 Equus sometimes "settles" a bit over nite, but always comes up to spec when I start up. This is not an indication of a leak....

The rear of my 2011 would deflate overnight as well. I could tell that the driver's side was a bit lower, so I replaced that air strut. It fixed the problem.

Mine also settles. Like everyone else, once started up, it resumes to normal.

But here is an issue I am working on. When I put the car in "High" suspension mode, it will only stay there for about two minutes, then sinks back to "Normal" mode. This happens when at idle, so it isn't a speed related issue.

When it resets from high to normal on its own, the info display shows the arrows of the car moving down and you hear suspension sounds, so something is telling the car to switch modes.

Worked fine to about a week ago. Anybody got an idea what may cause this? I would think maybe an air leak, but it maintains "Normal" just fine. No error codes in Torque.

Scary buying a used luxury car because you can finally afford it, but in constant fear of an expensive fix just around the corner.

Update: took car to dealer, identified leak in rear left suspension air bag. Estimate $2,000 (to replace both rear airbags).

Update, took the car to the dealer. They would not replace just the bad air spring (left rear), insisted Hyundai required both to be replaced. I cried about it but had the work done, it was just over $2000. So there's the down side of an older EQUUS. But, it was my final repair and my car is 100% except for some touch-up needed on the bumper covers.

Most repairs I could do with new/used parts and a helpful mechanic. This was the first repair I had to have the dealer do. Most repair parts are plug and play, that is, just take out the old part and bolt in the replacement.
