  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Answer: not installed right. I'm pretty sure the mechanic who worked on it never heard of a "coil over" before.

Look at how compressed the springs are! I hope I haven't done serious damage to my car :( OMFG is this unbelievable incompetence or what?

Just WOW! That is unreal. I'm surprised he could even get them to compress that much with just a wrench.

This is exactly why I like to take time with each customer when they call to explain how they are adjusted. Believe it or not, this is the most common error when installing coilovers, though not to this extent. People look at the product, think they understand how it works, and are dead wrong.

XLevel... Your phone number suggests Indy location. Do you do updates in a shop, or are you a parts supplier only?

1500mi Genesis 5.0 non RSpec TAU, loaded.

So I took the time to "redo" the Megan install mangled by poop boys.
Removed the rear springs which were at near max height and lowered them one inch.

Set the front spring preload to zero. Set all dampers to 16. Poop boys had left the front at 16 like I asked but had one rear set to 28 and one set to ten.

Anyway here's the problem. The car is now bouncy like crazy. Like a circus ride. What should I do ??

These coilovers need preload on the springs to not bounce all over. They are just right now.

We are in Indy and while we are primarily a parts supplier, we do some installs, etc. here and are working to move into a location on Pendleton Pike shortly.

Thank you.

yes sounds like that, but is it due to not being installed right, or what? its only 1" lower than stock. very frustrating.

Hey J, do you have any updated pics of the car lowered?

Depends on the Megan series...and not all SS have top hats or options for camber adjustments (some with pillow mounts do..so don't).

Usually the stock suspension camber adjustments allow enough adjustment to reign in 1 to 1.2" of drop... you might have to run -2.0 of camber in the rear, but that should still be in Hyundai spec IIRC.

Dropping below that... most people look twds an option of adjustable camber arms for the rear from the likes of SPC (1, 2, or 3 arms..depending on amount you are trying to bring the camber in.

I've been doing some reading and it seems that Megan Racing has the market sewed up when it comes to coil over suspensions for the Genesis Sedan. Are there no other suspension set ups to choose from? I have seen mixed reviews on the Megan's and have a serious problem with paying $800-$1000 on a product, that in all likelihood, is inferior to the product it is replacing.

I have had Megan's on my car for 18 months now. It took me 6 months to find settings that I liked for the car, but now I am adamant that the ride is far superior to that of the OEM's, and the lowering of the car has been just a throw in bonus.

Really, i know that I could not have tolerated my 2010 Premium V6 Genesis much longer. Now I have had my car 51 months, and i have no intention of getting rid of it. In fact, I like driving my 2010 more than I have the newer ones with admittedly better suspension symptoms, but now with transmissions that seem to make the more powerful newer cars feel sluggish to me.

So far I have not regretted the Megans, and I have 24,000 miles on them. I have the front shocks set at 16, and the rears at 19, and that has been the compromise I can live with. Cornering remains good enough, and the ride clearly better from before. The front end will still feel a little stiff over uneven pavement. I really improved the situation with a change from a sport tire to a more comfortable passenger tire. My satisfaction was complete. The extreme bobbing on wavy roads of the car on the original shocks was nauseating. Since the shocks and tire change I can carry my family around without them complaining of the terrible sickening ride.

Ah, I do have one addendum. I went on a golf trip, 4 men with their golf bags and other bags, and I had to increase the rears suspension to 15 to avoid some bottoming out. Then I went back to 19. Changing the rear suspension is a pain, I have to jack up the car, but still it only takes me 15 minutes to do both rear adjustments. And I am good at using the jack, now.

I am getting a lot of calls from sedan owners that the ride on both base and R-Spec is "harsh" and "jouncing" over bumps. Some owners have found that they experience this issue but also a lot of sway, roll or "wallow" to the point of nauseating passengers.

Can someone with PERSONAL knowledge and experience with Megan coilovers (ie. someone that owns them or has ridden in a car equipped with them) speak to how it has effected the harshness of bumps?

Is the softest setting softer than OEM?

If harshness was your concern, what settings have you settled on?

How would you rate your experience with the coilovers on a 1-5 scale?

What would you change, if anything?

On a separate note, we now also offer BC Racing coilovers for $1000 shipped and air ride for around $5k.

Whats the air ride setup you offer for 5k? Assuming it is AirForce and their management or bags separate with user to choose their management. Looking at both options. If you dont mind send me a PM. If you are the official Garcia Factory rep for the US then I've already texted you earlier this year about getting the bags separately.
