  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just took home a 2020 Genesis G70 3.3T with 32 miles on it.. What next?

Hey Folks,

After a lot of research and Test drives, I and my wife decided to get the 3.3T home this Saturday. What now? Break in the engine for 600 miles?( No Launch control?). Premium Fuel Needed? Any DO's and Dont's? We got the Siberian ICE and its a looker..

Congrats on the beautiful new car! I bought a 2019 G80 Sport 3.3T in Polar ice at about this time last year, but would have gone with a G70 if I didn't need a somewhat roomy backseat area to chauffeur my elderly parents around town. I'm 6'4", so nobody would be able to sit behind me in a G70.

Beware the dealerships, many seem incompetent especially with what oil they use.

Had mine coated at the dealer and had it Xpel wrapped last week and yes I use premium gas all the time. You’re right it is a pure sport sedan so it’s fitting. I still look forward to driving it and looking at it. Your car is beautiful treat it well and it will treat you well.
I was quoted $4500 for expel on front, rockers, hood, and partial quarters. Hmmm, no. I'll just touch up chips as they come. If this was a 911 or more, I'd do it, but after an immediate $10k depreciation, I'd never recoup that.

...I figured other than Silver this color would work best. Plus, because its a matte / flat color...
Correction, its not matte or flat. It's gloss, non metallic like standard white, black, or red paints. It's the only non metallic G70 color interestingly. Unfortunately, non metallics are softer because they have at least one less coat of paint. They scratch and swirl easier than metallic paints.

That’s actually false. Number of coats is the same...if not one extra. Metallic simply adds bits of powdered metal and aluminum to one of the coats...and finished coats are the same (protective, etc).

SI is not a normal non metallic either. It differs from the cheapest non metallic by adding a high epoxy content primer coat to achieve the putty and color changing effect.

Matte/flat also adds a flattening agent to remove shine/gloss (which Genesis doesn’t do).

If anything...scratches and swirls are less visible.

Ask me how I know!

Hmmm. Ok, I'm not sure then about Genesis, but the paint specs for GM metallics specify a primer coat, three stage color, and two stage clear for the metallics. The non metallics specify primer, two stage color, and single stage clear.

Correct - I meant non - metallic. And no worries, I have a Ceramic coat on it it's fine :)

To add to what beefer said, the swirls in my paint are.. non existent. I had a paint correction done prior to the ceramic coat, and the swirling was very minimal prior to that according to my detailer.

Mine was $1200 like I said for the front, hood and rocker panels. Didn't really see a purpose to have the front fenders done. If anything I would have liked the doors done just to prevent the usual "open the door" on you car thing.
In the past I've tried the touch up thing it never really worked for me.

Wow. Pricy. The $1200 (assuming USD) is similar to the $1500 CAD it would cost me to have all of that done by the local guy. I had the front bumper, grill, headlights, etc. all done for like $750 CAD in Xpel. They even gave me extra material to cover the front camera.

Yea that was a very good price. They actually wanted more ($100.00 ea.) for the headlights. Maybe these prices are area driven. Bottom line they did a great job and I have a 10 repair or replace warranty.

Congrats, i really like the Siberian Ice. It seems almost have a small blue hue in it. It is a sharp color and i really like how the black interior (if that's what you chose) contrasts the exterior.
