Just took the plunge

Just got a 4.6 with Tech package (Titanium Grey / Black on black). After all BS dealer fees and whatnot, it was $37,400. This car is awesome! Seriously, I love every feature. We'll see about the suspension issues as I go, but so far I love the ride. The sound is awesome although I agree he bass could be a little better. Luckily, I already have am Alpine 12" R-type sub and Kenwood Amp that I will put in. I was thinking I would do some mods to the car, but it is so beautiful as is that I am loathe to add anything to take away from the beauty of this car. Maybe I'll put on a lip spoiler and that's about it. I even like the rims. I saw a 4.6 with the 3.8 Korean OEM caps and it was hard to tell that they didn't belong. (I could when I got up close and because I knew what to look for). I'll also put the wings on the trunk and steering wheel. I live in Colorado, so winter is pretty much about to hit us so I'll wait until spring to get some rims. This car is so amazing, I can't believe it's under $40K! I rode in my friends M3 and I can't help but laugh thinking he paid $60K for a car only slightly better than mine. No car beats this one bang for the buck.

I love this car. I ordered the lip spoiler and wings for the rear and wheels. I will post pics of my baby after I put these on and get the windows tinted and I might as well put the 12" Alpine sub in the back since its just lying around.

My wife used to hate riding in or driving my old car. (Kia Sorento). She is into the name status and all that. She basically refused to have anything to do with helping me get the Genesis. And then I got it home. We are on day 2 now, and I can't keep her out the car. She takes it to the store, to drop the kids off, basically if I'm not at work, she acts like the car is hers. I love this car and will keep it for at least the next 5 years. I love the shifttronic mode. I haven't timed 0-60, but I know I can get to 60 in 2nd gear and then stop on a dime. I love to hear that engine growl as I'm blowing away "luxury" cars off the line at stop lights. I'm getting better gas mileage than EPA posted 17/25 (when I'm not acting like its a race car!) And, she has ridden in both the front and back seats and comments on how smooth the ride is. My car was built Mar 25, 2009 so maybe the suspension problems were fixed...I don't know but it is a nice ride. She has also commented on how amazing the stereo system is. Seriously, put in a DVD and listen to it and you have movie quality sound. It is better than my Onkyo home theater system.

Wait until you start having strangers stop and comment about your Genesis, whether going down the highway, parking lot, and passers by. We were at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood Florida last weekend and came up to valet and there sat an elderly lady looking at our Genesis as we slowly came up. I got out of the passenger side and the lady said to me..."Now THAT is a beautiful automobile" " you must be a very proud owner" I smiled cause it made my day.

I ordered from E-bay. Got the rear emblem for $18 (including shipping). Got the 18" wheel caps (V6 version) for $58 including shipping. I will take the center wings out of the 18" V6 wheel caps and the flying 'H' out of the V8 wheel caps and swap them. (Save me $150-$200 over what they are selling the V8 wing caps for). I got the rear lip spoiler (painted) for $245 (including shipping) from carid.com

How do you like the spoiler? How was the install? Have any pictures?

What is the difference between the "Lighted Rear Spoiler" and the "Lip-Mount Rear Spoiler"? The website doesn't really say much. Why is the latter's market value double the former's?

Also, what is the "Paint Code"? Is it just the manufacturer's color name (ie. Platinum Metallic, in my case)?

I haven't got the spoiler yet. I just ordered it so I expect it won't get here for another 2 weeks or so. From what I've read, its a do-it-yourself install. It has some adhesive 3M tape and is basically peel and stick...but measure twice cut once as its apparently very difficult to get off if you mess up. The pics I've seen with it on look great.

As for paint codes, look on the drivers doo inside. You will find it there. It's a 2 digit code. Mine is NY (Titanium Grey Metallic). Also, you can check this link for the color codes. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=1150

I have the lip spoiler on mine. Mine is from Hyundai and was installed as a factory accessory when I bought my Genesis. The one from Hyundai is a bolt on one.

Paint code for Platinum metallic is AU. As stated, look at the labels on the center post on the driver's side.
