  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have no real complaints with my 2009 Genny, but I always wanted the tech package. Now that I have it, it really is a big deal, because the 2011 Genny has a lot more things for me to play wit now.

Congrats on the new bells, whistles, and horsepower upgrade.

This maroon color is something to get used to coming from my silver Genny. Me likey silver:o

Congrats. I had the 09 titanium. Liked it alot. Now im in a black 12 and I just forgot what a hassle it is to keep clean. Looks good when it is.

Congrats on your new car.

I, too, just traded in an '09 for an '11, but in my case, I moved from the V6 to the V8 (both had the Tech pkg), so the changes I'm getting used to are very different than yours. While I was never unhappy with the '09 V6, the extra power afforded by the 395HP V8 makes me smile every time I stomp on it (although the extra weight in the front end of the V8 is noticeable). The other positives are the cashmere interior (which I happen to prefer to the black interior I had before), and the new suspension responds better to a couple of local freeways that prompted an "undulation" in my first Genesis. Better still is the fact that the dealer agreed to pull the stock Dunlops from the '11 and replace them with the almost-new Michelins I had put on my '09 last year. Retinting, rebadging and reinstallation of my Valentine1 are done and the transition is complete. And I dropped 50K miles from the odometer! Vroom, vroom!

So you had over 50K on your odometer and you traded in for an '11 genesis, was it on lease or did you own it? Did your dealer give you BB value for your trade?

You can tell a huge difference in the ride quality also, and the 17 speaker system sounds phenomenal.:D

I owned the '09. I don't have the paperwork in front of me, but I paid ~$11K plus the trade-in on a ~$44K car, so I got well over $30K to trade-in a three-year-old car with 54K miles on it.

Two unusual factors play into it, though: <1> the car was extremely clean (I'm pretty AR about car care) and had a number of upgrades, so the resale value is above average given its age and odo reading, and <2> my brother-in-law runs the dealership, so I get the family discount. I haven't checked kbb or edmunds, but I suspect what I got for the trade-in more than covered the actual value of the '09 plus the MSRP discounts that one would normally expect.

I just went the Hyundai Site and looked at the colors offered for a 2011 Genesis. There is no Maroon! - the Closest color is Cabernet Red Pearl, which is a color that I tried to find and is almost impossible to get. I wanted a Cab Red Pearl with Black Interior. Dealer could not get it.

What color is yours again?

I have a 2010 4.6 Tech in Cabernet red pearl with black interior. I looks very nice when it is clean. I had to wait for it to get off the boat but it was earmarked for me and the window sticker even had my name on it. I have never seen another like it and it is no longer an available color combination.

I have the cabernet red (maroon) too. Great color, but tougher to keep clean than silver. Enjoy the car!

That's the color caberet red or burgundy etc, I know I said maroon (I get my colors mixed up sometimes. :0l. I always liked silver, black, and white cars? But this sexberry red is starting to grow on me. Lol ;0)

I'm seriously considering trading in my 4.6L 2009 genesis (17k miles) for a new 2012 R spec. I've always had the tech package and wouldn't buy a genny without it. Glad to see I'm not the only one that likes these cars so much they are upgrading!

Hey allenfc I traded my 09 in and it had almost 17000 miles on it. I believe it was 16846, anyway if your moving from basic to tech package it is a world of difference. Also the suspension upgrade is a huge plus for this car. Hyundai really done their homework on this one (A all the way). It just goes to show that you can make a great car even greater.;)
