In other words, clean it as often as YOU have time to do it. 

I found my Genesis with 35% tint to be FAR cooler in 100 degree weather than my old blue car with no tint. It does make a difference - and I think a considerable one.
As for keeping it clean... that hour and a half every weekend is not a chore for me. I look forward to the peace, quiet, and enjoyment of making all my neighbors slow down and gawk.
