Keep black car clean

I found my Genesis with 35% tint to be FAR cooler in 100 degree weather than my old blue car with no tint. It does make a difference - and I think a considerable one.

As for keeping it clean... that hour and a half every weekend is not a chore for me. I look forward to the peace, quiet, and enjoyment of making all my neighbors slow down and gawk.

Well, there ya go, then! ENJOY! I know at least with a white car out here in SE I can touch the car body and not get a 2nd degree blister...LoL...

Guys... ONR is a much better option then QD if your car is soiled (but not enough to wash). Using QD should occur right after wash, or touch up for very light soiling / dusting. Anything more and you start pushing the limits of what the product can actually do.

Haha got it! this is my second black car ( previous was a Honda Element ) and I swore i would never get another black car! that is....until i saw the Genny on black....couldn't resist! haha now i have to suffer to see its beauty when cleaned!

Your car is soooo clean I actually found lots of DUST, on my computer screen.
Very nice, I have a black 2009 and it is spotless aswell. I find a soft car cover is great when in the garage as the cement give of a fine dust. Also my in home vacuum is in the garage and it contributes to the dust. Hence the car cover keeps it nice.

My "other" car is black. Not hard to keep clean as it's only driven when the sun is shining.

along with some of the other suggestions you have received, Remember to keep the car from getting any residual overspray from a lawn sprinkler system. It does not take long for hard to remove water spotting to occur.

I've had black and dark vehicles before this one, and it's definitely a part-time job. I agree with someone above, get wax on it early so that the surfaces are smooth and resist grime build-up on the paint itself, which happens fast. I try not to drive in the rain, if possible, but sitting in the rain is good, as the relatively pure water (no acid rain, here) doesn't leave spots, pulls dust off, and helps de-magnetize the surface from all my wiping (another gotcha with black). Often I can just do the two towel trick using microfiber rags, one damp, one dry, and clean it that way if it's not really "dirty", but one way or another I'm washing it at least once a week by hand with wax-soap and waxing outright every few weeks, sometimes more often on the front clip, with lots of UV protectant on all the other parts. I enjoy the hobby, although I'm not exactly young anymore, so it's a bit of light exercise outdoors, along with my other outdoor activities.

The big thing to just "get over" is that black is never really "perfect" over the entire car, and nobody but me sees that tiny scratch or water spot I may have missed. The metallic in my black paint makes it even more like a mirror sometimes, so that helps. The other lesson you can learn from people with well-kept black cars is that your non-black car is probably too dirty
