  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I’ve owned other cars which each key fob can be set for either driver 1 or 2, so that when unlocking or starting the car, the car automatically loads driver preferences 1 or 2, based on the code the individual fob.

Is there a way to link the settings the key On the GV80?

Not to my knowledge.

I came here with the same question. It's pretty surprising to me that this can't be done, given that every car I've had since about 2004 has worked this way.

No big deal to me as my wife rarely drives my car and never set up a profile, but she has it on her car and it is nice that when I get in, it goes to all my presets. Not sure why they did not do this.

It can be done. I can't tell you how because my dealer set it up. Primary driver is the default when both phones are present. Easy to switch to secondary by selecting the correct profile. We've only had the GV80 a little over a week. Still trying to find out what the car can or can't do. Disappointed no auto door lock or unlock when the car detects key phob.

Not sure what a phone has to do with each key fob remembering their respective seat positions and other settings, or maybe I am missing something.

As far as the auto unlock and lock goes, mine unlocks my two front doors when I approach the car. Also it will open the hatch when I approach the rear of the car. But there is no auto lock that I have found. You can turn the auto unlock, and the auto hatch opening on or off in settings.

So, you GV80 will unlock the front doors when you approach the vehicle as long as you have the key fob? Must be something they changed on the later GV80s because mine does not do that. Do not really want it to do that. Have enough with it beeping at me to open the tailgate when I walk behind the vehicle. I would disable that, but it is convenient when your hands are full.

Wow, they did away with that. I just wish it would unlock the back doors as well. If I go to put something in the back seat, I have to touch the front door handle and then open the back door.

Do you have 2 press unlock enabled? If you do, disable this and maybe the backs will unlock too.

I do not know about the 2022, but the 2023 does not unlock when you walk up to the vehicle. Like I said, I prefer this anyway. I can grab the handle or use the key fob, phone or my watch if I want it unlocked before I get there.

Jhon...Exactly where in settings is the Auto doors Unlock? I know where the auto gate lift is.

The 2023 does not have that option.

Thanks Dale...was hoping there was.

Sorry, nope. It would be nice if it was an option d=for people that would like that. Now if the key fob would set the profile I would be willing to have it unlock when I walk up, but I would also want it to lock when I walk away.

Like DaleNet said the 2023 does not have it, but I went out to my car (2021) to look for it on the settings.
I could not find it. I found the door and hatch lock menu, but it did not mention anything about turning on and off the auto door unlock when approaching the car. So, I guess that I can't turn it off like I can the hatch. (The hatch option is there)
When I get a chance, I will check the book and see if I am missing something.

Are you sure if that's the automatic unlock or automatic mirror unfold? For my 2023, I was initially thinking there is an automatic unlock as I approach the car, as the mirror unfolded itself. With a little bit more testing, I realized it's not unlocked at all.

Yes, when I approach the car, the mirrors unfold and the doors unlock. I am quite sure of this. But, only for two front door unlock not the back doors.
And, if I don't open the doors, or touch the door handle to unlock the back doors, the car will lock and the mirrors will re-fold in a minute or two.

I had honestly thought I had selected this in the settings, but I guess I have no choice and that is the way it is. The hatch feature is separate as I had disabled it for a while when it would open every time I walked past the trunk with my fob in my pocket. Then I learned just to say a little bit further from the trunk and it wood not beep. And if it did start to beep, I can just take a one more step away (before the third beep) and it will not open.

For 2023 models: There is not a way to lock or unlock the doors by just walking up to the car (mirror folding and courtesy light is a separate option). To lock or unlock the car, you can either:
1) have the Smart Key in your possession and then put your hand in a front door handle. The most recently used Profile will be activated.
OR
2) Place a Profile linked Smart Phone Key to a front door handle. The linked Profile will be activated.
OR
3) Place the linked NFC Card to a front door handle. The most recently used Profile will be activated.

So for those that want two different Profiles to be used depending upon the person entering the car, they should use the second option (use a linked Smart Phone Key).

To TURN OFF this feature (so that doors will not unlock or lock when you do these things to the handle) you need the Smart Key. It is not a setting on the screen. With the Smart Key, press the Lock button and release it. Then immediately press the unlock and lock buttons at the same time and hold them (for a few seconds). The hazard lights will blink four times, and then you can release the buttons.

I learned all this by reading the manual and testing it on my 2023.

OK, here is the funny part. In the manual it states I have a setting where I can have the auto lock when I walk away. My car does not have that feature, nor a setting for it. (I have the Prestige so it should have most stuff)

Jhon, your picture is from the Navigation Owners Manual. My version of that manual has the Walk Away option missing (as does my car). My Navigation Owners Manual (right inside the cover) says "GEN6 premium class navigation". Does yours say a different generation?

BTW, I always find the Owners Manual more detailed and explanatory then the Navigation Manual.
