  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I inadvertently left my Key Fob in my watch pocket and sent my jeans through the wash rinse and spin cycle before noticing it was missing.

I removed it from the wash and immediately (without pressing any buttons) placed it into a bowl of rice fully covered. Let sit for 12 hours and when I got home from work, walla, worked like nothing ever happened.

Just wanted to pass this along incase anyone else has a brain fart like mine :D

I think they are pretty much water proof. I have the key card on the 2015 so no forgetting it in my pockets however my Gen 1 fob was washed several times and never an issue. Could have saved you some rice if you would have asked before. :D

That rice idea does work well. But I wonder if the key fob is indeed waterproof. I love the idea of that credit card sized key...

I have washed mine twice (or maybe washed each keyfob once, not sure), and I opened it up to let it dry for a week just to be sure it was not wet inside when I used it (I used my other keyfob during that week). No problems, although I did change the battery since it was already open.
