  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I bought a 2015 Genesis sedan last night and it had two key fobs. How do I know which fob is key #1 for driver settings 1 and which is key #2 for driver settings 2? As far as I can tell, they are completely unlabeled - I even looked inside the emergency key compartment. Thanks in advance.

Welcome!

#1- Pick up either key; it doesn't matter which one. Tell it "You are key number one." The other one automatically becomes key number two. But don't mix them up as they will become annoyed with you.

#2- Now, after entering the car with EITHER key, press the setting number of your choice on the door. Assuming that you have set each setting to your specific preferences, the seat, side mirrors and steering wheel will then adjust to your preferences.

Actually, step #1 is optional. Just skip to step #2. It's much faster.

key fob have nothing to do with any of the workings inside the vehicle. Use any of them at any time they are interchangeable. The seat memory are recorded(if its not a base model) when you set them while inside the car. So if your wife uses your car and changes the seat setting then, if you recorded your setting in seat#1 when you get in the vehicle you will just have to press #1 to get back to how you like it. :welcome:

Why is the wife always assumed to be #2?

I always give my wife top billing.

LOL, I love all the comments!

I suppose I'm confused with other models that use the presence of the specific key to determine how to set the seats/steering wheel/mirrors/etc. So basically when I enter the car, I press "1" (if necessary) and when my wife (or daughter as the case may be) enters the car, they press "2" or adjust the seat manually. In this case, my wife doesn't get top billing because she drives the minivan and I drive the Genesis.

On another topic, last night my daughter discovered the cool projection of the Genesis logo on the driveway as a puddle lamp! :cheerie:

I can see how that would be confusing: two fobs, two memory positions, how hard can that be?
But things like your daughter spotting the puddle lamp really are priceless.

Funny, I have spent my whole married life with a woman who puts me first in everything. I think the least I can do is to make her #1 every chance I get. Over the years she has overlooked, or at least put up with, every one of my faults, which are many. Doing the little things for our significant others reaps numerous rewards, most of which we are never smart enough to realize.
