  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've looked (used search) for a thread that deals with this. I couldn't find one. So, I apologize if it's been covered and I missed it. I have a new (3 weeks old) 2.0T base coupe. This morning The keyless fob would not work. Additionally, the "real" key, when tried in the door handle lock, wouldn't even turn. I then tried the second set of both, and they too did not work. So, I'm effectively locked out of my car. Anyone know what's going on and have any directions toward a solution?

Make sure the key is pushed in all the way?

Did you try the physical key in the other door? Or trunk/hatch? And has it ever been tried/verified to work on your car? This is something the dealer should have done when you bought the car - making sure the keys were in fact the right ones for the vehicle.

The dealer should be able to use your VIN to cut new mechanical keys, just bring positive proof of vehicle ownership that has the VIN on it plus a photo ID of yourself. The ideal paperwork is the registration... which is probably locked inside the car, right? The sales contract should have the info as well. Hyundai vehicles also come with a small paper tag with key number info on it; see if that matches your keys and your VIN; I'll bet one doesn't match if your keys don't work any lock on the car.
