  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello fellow Gene owners, I want to start by apologizing if this is not in the correct place or has been asked before. I am a new member to your community so looking for a little feedback on a problem I have on a brand new 2014 2.0t r-spec. Also sorry in advance for such a long post.

The day after I bought the car I picked up a nail in the right rear and had to replace the tire. I was offered no help from the dealership so I went to firestone. Tire is special order as some of you may already know so I was on the spare for about 30 mile while waiting for the new one to arrive. While on the spare I notice the car moves left when I clutch and right when I accelerate. I write this off to the size of the spare (please correct me if I'm wrong). Well when I get my replacement on the car the same thing happens, so I brought it to the dealer. They showed me that I had the wrong speed rating on the new tire. So I get that replaced for the correct speed rating, another 30 miles on that tire. Now I have the correct speed rating and my car does the reverse....pulls right when the load is taken off the rear end (decelerate or clutch) and just a bit to the left when load is applied (accelerate). Dealer is telling me its the torque and that all 14 Gene Coupes do it. Also, when I reverse I hear a loud(ish) knock coming from the rear end, and then again when I move forward, dealer says this happens on all Gene Coupes as well. So if any of you have experienced the same issues with a 2014 Gene r-spec of the 2.0t variety pretty please with sugar on top, let me know.

So I have an update on this. I went back to pickup my car yesterday evening and I was able to speak with the shop foreman. After some discussion he agreed to put two new tires on the back which seems to have corrected the pulling right to left. Haven't gotten on the freeway yet though.

The knock noise was described to me as being the yoke design. Apparently its a rubber coupler design which allows for play so when the load is released you can sometimes get the knock. Still curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

The rubber flex disc should not cause any noise.

Seems odd for them to make a noise from the factory. I haven't had any from my 2010 since day 1 and even with my mods.
