  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've had my black 3.8L Genesis for just over a week, and I'm just now noticing what appear to be two paint-matched "patch" adhesive pieces (approx. 3" x 3") on each side of the car. Just behind and below the rear passenger doors, next to the rear tire wells.

Has anyone else noticed these? What are they there for? Are they covering something up?

Thanks for any information you may have...

You're not alone. I've got 'em too. I've had my 4.6 Gray for 4 months and have seen them mostly when I wash the car.... never gave them much thought. ... 'till now..... thanks a lot! lol:) Let's hope someone with a lot of time on their hands finds an answer for us. P.S. Congrats on your new purchase!

Correct. You forget they're there after a while.

Well at least until they get milky colour due to the abrasive dust and rocks thrown up by the front wheels. :( Better than chipped paint though I guess. :D

They're more visible on darker colors. It's important to note that these clear films can yellow over time (more prevalent on lighter colors, especially white). When cleaning them, it's important to use a clear plastic specific cleaner. Mothers, Meguiars and Plexus are all acceptable. Don't use ammonia glass cleaners (windex) or waxes on these parts. This includes, fog lights, headlights, taillights, instrument cluster, navigation or radio displays.
