  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lacks that throaty sound

What does a configuration like this cost to have installed (including parts & labor)?

Depends on your installer. The guy I used is a perfectionist so he didn't cut any corners. My set-up was about 6 bills. All stainless steel piping used from the mufflers to the rear axle and the cat deletes. He even re created the stock baffle plate with rectangle outlets into the oem tips in the bumper. The mufflers are painted black for a factory appearance. Now the car has the sound a R-spec should have without being too loud.

Long tube headers and high flow cats would probably get a real rumble going under acceleration but I don't know if there are any aftermarket options available...

Thank you! The car has 2 Magnaflow 14in body mufflers, secondary cat delete and the rest is stock. Sounds great under acceleration, quiet when cruising and minimal drone. Its perfect! I get so many compliments even at the dealer.

Would you have any part #'s for those mufflers by any chance?

I put out some interest feelers on long tube headers but my exhaust shop guy hasn't found any available, I think at this point the only way to get them is custom made.:(

How much would something like that cost?

The factory exhaust manifolds are actually a good free flowing design. Long tubes would not work well without a tune and would make the car sound like something it is not. Also with the long tube headers the cats would have to relocated to a area may cause fitment/excessive heat issues. I would definitely consider having hi-flow cats fabed to fit.

Good information. Thank you. In my experience with cars fitted with long tube headers and high flow catalytic converters - the car sounded pretty close to stock when driving around normally. However, give it some pressure and it sounds totally different. I think the Tau V8 would sound pretty good this way. However, that's only one man's opinion...

Love this car but I wish it had more of a throaty sound....anyone do anything to address that? Just curious.....

Replace the resonator with an X pipe, Electronic exhaust cutouts just ahead of the mufflers. Great throaty growl, loud as hell when you get on it and the cut outs let you "quiet it up" when needed. I actually blew past a cop (he didn't get a good look) I closed the valves when I saw him behind me. By the time he pulled me over he apologized for getting the wrong car. The one that went by him was loud. HAHAHAHA!!!
