Hi All,
New member here. Got a used 2023 GV80 a couple of months ago. Car is in perfect shape, had just over 15,000 miles and the headlights were perfect. I wanted to keep these perfect- safe from rock chips and UV fade, so a month later I purchased and installed some Lamin-x headlight film (Genesis GV80 (2021-2024) Headlight Covers).
It looked amazing for the first couple of weeks until we hit some seriously hot weather, then things turned ugly. I noticed a few small cracks along the bottom of the headlights, not sure of the cause, I kept an eye on it- only to notice it spreading throughout the next two weeks. I now have crazing (small plastic micro-cracking) at the bottom of my headlight lenses, with light crazing occurring throughout the lens. I didn't believe it was possible that this Lamin-x film could be causing any damage as they are specifically intended to protect. However, after some quick research I found this isn't uncommon.

I have since removed the film but the damage is done. These headlights aren't cheap to replace so I am unfortunately stuck with this damage on what is otherwise a perfect looking car.
I wanted to share this warning with anyone who is looking to PPF their headlights. The Lamin-x pre-cut headlight film is extremely thick compared to other PPF, which I think has contributed to this damage. I would stay away from their films and if you are looking to have your headlights PPF'd, go to a professional with a thinner film and have them hand cut that flim to the car.
This is saddening, but I'm glad I removed the film before the sever damage was visible across the entire light.
