Lane Keep Assist/ Forward Collision Avoidance/ Smart Cruise Control Reviews?

I know this isn't exactly related to this thread, but it's close enough. The 3.3T Sport comes with parking sensors and backup cameras; does it also have a park assist (i.e. - auto parallel park or auto park in a perpendicular spot)? I don't think I've heard anything about park assist but just wanted to ask...

No, it doesn't but the 360 view and overhead view help quite a bit with parking.

Yeah I have both of those in my F-150... they help tremendously because it is such a large vehicle!

I don’t think it has this option in any trim, which is baffling given all the driver assistance systems. The lower trims don’t even have forward sensors. I use the park assist on my C300 all the time and wish the G70 I’ve ordered had it! I’d love to be corrected by an owner on this!
 
To be honest, I really only regularly use the backup sensors to park my F-150 (I much prefer using my mirrors and the 'ol head swivel to the cameras) to know when I need to stop because the ass end of it is in another zip code trying to park it LOL... but it is very nice to have the rear and front facing cameras and the 360 degree view in case of parking in tight spaces
 
No, different scenario. If you could kick it in at slow speeds, people would use it in parking lots, small residential streets, other places it is not a good idea to set CC.

I also see the CC would be stupid in parking lots, etc. However, while I've never tried it, it's my understanding that the CC includes full stop and then acceleration back to set speed. So is there a minimum engagement speed even though the system does do full stop? I personally never engage it below 35-40 MPH.

As for me, I love the Adaptive Crusise Control that meters slow speed adjustmets without "braking" that I can feel. Whenever that happens, I click it off and coast, only applying braking if necessary. I DON'T like the hard braking feel UNLESS it's necessary.

Disclaimer: I drive like a 79 year old so I'm not one of those who feel they have to be the fastest in the "race".

The ACC can be set at lower speed.

1. Push the CRUISE button on the
steering wheel to turn the system
on. The CRUISE indicator will illuminate.
2. Accelerate to the desired speed.
The Smart Cruise Control speed
can be set as follows:
• 20 ~ 120 mph (30 ~ 200 km/h) :
when there is no vehicle in front
• 0 ~ 120 mph (0 ~ 200 km/h) :
when there is a vehicle in front

Like you, at 72 I don't have to be first, but I'm certainly not going to be last either.
 
The CC will bring you down to a full stop, and it's quite unnerving the first time you try it, I know I was a bit nervous anyways. If you're stopped at a traffic light for longer than about 3 seconds, you need to either press the gas or hit the 'resume' button to accelerate again. Being caught in a bit of heavy stop-and-go traffic is so much easier with the ACC, you literally don't need to operate the accelerator. I don't think I've tried it much below about 50mph but I'm fairly sure it can be set as low as 20mph. The only really hard braking I've noticed is when another driver thinks they have enough room to cut in front of you and the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you gets reduced almost instantly.
 
I always have it on, but it does not do much. If you keep too light a touch on the wheel it alarms. if you keep a heavier touch you are doing the steering. If I keep too light a touch, sometimes it will drift out of the lane on a slight curve. You probably recall that others complained it made the car weave a bit but I never feel that.

I wonder if some are more active than others.
Although I've only had my G80 for two weeks, I don't think I've ever turned it off. It doesn't engage at lower speeds around town, (so, it's not tugging at the wheel when it doesn't need to). Like with adaptive cruise control, LKA just makes the highway commute a little more pleasurable. I don't get the "wondering within the lane" that others have spoken of. About 25 seconds or so "hands free" is how much time I get before I get the command to hold on to the steering wheel. LKA is not an auto-pilot. I'm glad it's available.
 
Checking out = bad; using adaptive cruise control while stuck in traffic on a freeway doing about 20mph in a 70mph zone = a much less stressful drive home. Not to mention any long highway trips on single lane roads with idiots in front of you that can't choose a speed.
I don't think using adaptive cruise or active steering automatically means people are checking out. Sure it happens, but for me I find I almost pay more attention to the cars and what is going on around me when I know I can pull back a bit of energy I am spending on gas/brake/steering... if that makes sense.

I spend quite a bit of time driving on freeways where there isn't a lot of opportunity to pass and having the car assist with following distance and steering seems to keep me more focused and less fatigued.

Now definitely don't go watching youtube vid's with this car lol

I used ACC when I had to drive through Chicago during rush hour. It was much more relaxing to let the car creep along and stop periodically for me than me having to drive through the mess. I was hitting the city after being on the road for about 5 hours already so it was a relief for my right leg to not have to work through the traffic downtown. The only thing I had to do on occasion was to hit the resume button after the car had stopped due to the backups. A stretch of about 15 miles took over an hour and a half to get through. It was nice to have the car help out.

That would hardly suck. Too much time in a person's life being wasted in a rat race.
 
As a bonus, I image the drivers mat will last longer without all the pivoting on your heel. lol

YES, a human driver can do a BETTER job, but for long trips I think it's safer to use the LKA. For extra long days at the wheel, I think it's much more relaxing. I'm talking 500-700 miles a day. The last couple of years, we gone down to Scottsdale (1,500 miles) broken up into 2 long days and the last day shorter.) Much easier drive with LKA in my opinion.

Actually a cool feature in my F-150 for the LKA is this: it actually has two different settings... One for alert and one for assist. So, I can turn both settings on and it will vibrate the steering wheel and jerk me back into the lane if I start to drift. OR I can turn the assist off and it will just vibrate the steering wheel without jerking the car automatically if I start to drift. I really like this because it gives me the choice... wish the G70 had that option because I always have the alert (with no assist) turned on

I don't know about the G70 but my 2016 Genesis has that feature. LKA has three options, first is the fully functional LKA that will return your car to the center, second and third options do not center the car but they will warn you with a wheel vibration when the car is drifting, option two before the car touch the lateral line and option three after the car passed thru the line. I don't like the full LKA on regular traffic because the car drives jerky and when you try to move to a lateral line without engaging the turn light it will try to correct the curse against your will. That's why I always use option two in regular traffic. For a long highway trip full LKA is good though.

Ah ok that's good news!! Can any G70 owners shed some light on this? Are there different "levels" to the LKA that allow for turning off the assist but keeping the alert function? That would be excellent if there are different options for sensitivity too!
