  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lane Keep Assist/ Forward Collision Avoidance/ Smart Cruise Control Reviews?

I think I'd turn LKA off unless I was doing a very long trip or something of that sort. There are times when the center of the lane isn't the best place to be, like when an extra-wide vehicle is approaching. I'm still smarter than any LKA. If fatigue or inattention is the issue, better to pull over and rest. But I can imagine situations where there's borderline fatigue in which the lane assist would be useful.

As for turn signals, I always use them too. It seems to be a courtesy and safety measure that people have forgotten how to deploy. And what's with signaling after you've already pulled into the turning lane? Duh, at that point we all know you're going to turn. The information would have been useful when you were entering the lane, not after you're there. People seem not to realize that the signal is suppose to tell others what's about to happen, not to confirm what already has.

I love G80's turn signal settings - that allows more than three blinks. I chose 5 blinks because just like you said, the signal is for what's about to happen. I use 3 of those blinks for a warning I'm moving over. the remaining two blinks are for the transition. Regarding LKA and fatigue, I look at the devise as a method to extend a drivers alertness. Not to use while being fatigued!

Done a couple of longer trips now in my G70, and this is my first car with both LKA and SCC. The former I think is pretty awesome, as others have said even with the full system engaged the 'adjustments' are pretty subtle, and easy to take over as needed. I like the SCC, but my only issue is that it's NOT subtle. For example: I'm following a car in the fast lane that's maybe doing 100, and I have the SCC set to 120. When he moves out of the way, if there's not a car in front of him the G70 slams on the accelerator rather than gradually bringing me up to speed. Even in Eco mode. I know it's doing what I told it to do ...

I notice there is a setting for SCC that maybe I need to play with?

In the past, a few owners of other models complained it was not fast enough to get up to speed. There may be settings though.

There is a setting about "SCC Reaction" ... with a slow, normal and fast. I assumed it was as to how quickly it reacts to a slowdown in front of you, but by changing it to 'slow' I have found it doesn't accelerate as aggressively which is what I was looking for. All good!

I agree but what do you do when you have set it at 120mph and there is no one in front of you. Why not just set it at say 85 or so?

Unfortunately during the 2000mi trip that never seemed to happen. Setting to 85 is fine, but sometimes, especially here in Michigan, the traffic is going 95, and I realize I'm slowing everyone down because I hadn't noticed. Setting it high is just saying "I'll go as fast as that guy dares, because he's probably gonna pull the ticket." :)

Also I am glad you emphasized that there is no jerking of the wheel when using LKA like others say. It is quite gentile.

Yeah, I find it incredibly subtle and helpful.

I just picked up my G70 yesterday and took a long trip to the cottage using ACC and LKA most of the way. I would say they both work well. The LKA is subtle (though definitely perceptible) and can be overridden easily enough. The ACC does not accelerate or brake as smoothly as I would myself, but in no way would I describe it as “slamming” on the gas / brakes. There is no setting to alter this, except to change the set distance to the car in front of you. Overall, the systems made the trip easier and I see why people like them.

I haven't noticed my accelerator getting slammed.

See TOGuy242 post. There is a way to alter how agressive it is. That might help you.

I just completed a 210 mile excursion today. He Lane keeping assist in the adaptive cruise control performed smoothly. It seemed the faster I went The further the separation between my vehicle and the car in front of me at the same distance setting. I have G80 3.8L.

Yes that is the way it should be. It adjusts relative to your speed. Its not an absolute distance.

I was impressed when I experienced it. Not being absolute is brilliant. Now my 485HP Dodge Challenger scat pack shaker gives you Whiplash acelleration and braking using its ACC. Fun but you have to be in the mood. No adjustments.

A section of road I drive everyday is currently be repaved, and right now they don't have the lines painted yet, just little stuck on markings every bit, but the car still does a good job of seeing them and staying centered:

Also, on a side note, it is sunny here and we have had nothing but BC smoke for the last 3 days (fires about 1000km away), now I know what the end of the world will look like:

Also on topic you can see the car does well with a gentle bend as well. :)

interesting article., while the Genesis is not represented in the testing, I can agree with the over all results for the G80, essentially it has the same issues.

IIHS Finds Flaws in Active Driver Assistance Features

However, I have found that if you tweaking the settings for the features you can get it to behave pretty consistent and it makes commuting in heavy traffic less stressful.

aside from the occasional idiot that just has to squeeze himself into your lane during stop and go traffic because he might get a one car length advantage over the lane he was in, overall the SCC when set to "slow" accel and 3 Dots on the sonar behaves very well, slows and accelerates smoothly and has made a world of difference in my daily drive, I am less stressed when I get to work or home.

This is my biggest issues with these cruise systems is that they are too polite! lol I hate people pulling in and then the vehicles are so quick to just brake and open up the same space that more people keep doing it some days.

I do agree if you can leave it be you will be less stressed and more relaxed. My personal favorite is when towing. I am not in a rush when towing my RV and I want to leave a good gap. Smart cruise is awesome then.

So far for my G80, ACC works consistently smooth when I get cut off. I was quite amazed the car didn’t overreact. I have a 2015 Dodge Scat Pack Shaker that WILL overreact in same circumstances. I am very happy with how the G80 performs.

So this happend moments ago. Im in traffic and slowly moving forward when I almost tapped a car from behind. Wondering why the front collison system didnt activate or why the parking sensors didnt chime in. Recently had check system alerts, dismissed due to rainy weather, not so sure anymore. Anyone have a similar issue?

How fast were you going?

I was creeping forward at a stop light. Less than 5 moh
Collision stuff doesn’t kick in until higher speeds...I think.

But...you were going slow enough that the parking sensors should have kicked in. Dunno.
