Collision stuff doesn’t kick in until higher speeds...I think.

But...you were going slow enough that the parking sensors should have kicked in. Dunno.

Exactly, sensors at some level should have engaged.

So this happend moments ago. Im in traffic and slowly moving forward when I almost tapped a car from behind. Wondering why the front collison system didnt activate or why the parking sensors didnt chime in. Recently had check system alerts, dismissed due to rainy weather, not so sure anymore. Anyone have a similar issue?

The collision system needs higher speed
Prerequisite for activation
The AEB gets ready to be activated,
when the AEB is selected on the
LCD display, and when the following
prerequisites are satisfied.
- The ESC (Electronic Stability
Control ) is on.
- To enable the system to detect
pedestrians ahead, the vehicle
driving speed must be between 5
mph – 45 mph (8 km/h – 70 km/h).
- To enable the system to detect a
vehicle ahead, the vehicle driving
speed must be between 5 mph –
110 mph (8 km/h – 180 km/h).
When traveling above 50 mph (80
km/h), the AEB system only initiates
partial braking. This is to prevent
unintended full braking to stop in the
middle of the highway.

Did you have the parking sensors activated? They should have sounded if they were. I'd check them out if they did not sound. You will get an AEB warning in heavy rain or snow if the front plate get obscured.

I was creeping forward at a stop light. Less than 5 moh

If I want the car to auto brake in traffic I use adaptive cruise. I dont rely on emergency braking for slow traffic.

I’m not relying on EB as much as having sensor notification. Is there any difference when entering a parking space at less than 5mph having the sensors engage and they not engaging in traffic?

Yes, they engage at 6 mph. So, in slow traffic you can get close to someone and not set them off. They are called Parking sensors, not Close to another car in traffic sensors. So, there is a transition from parking sensor to AEB.

This is the first time I have read about the Genesis driver aids, and I'm happy to see that they seem to be pretty good. The "pretty good" means that you have to be MENTALLY - at least - driving the car. My wife got a Tesla Model 3 three of four months ago, and the 'autopilot' is good, but I have found that I think I can do it better about every 10-15 minutes. Even taking over that often, I find that I arrive at destinations much more relaxed.
