Lane keep assist

Wondering if leaving the lane keep assist on all the time will cause the tires to wear out faster? Apparently I am a terrible driver because I fight my wheel a ton.. I'm pulling one way and wheel pulls the other, sometimes making the car move strangely..which led me to wondering about tires.

PennyAnne, I don't bother turning mine off (even though it can be a tad annoying at times) and I haven't notice any abnormal wear with my tires (just crossed 23K miles). I would guess that you're more likely to get premature tire wear from bad alignment, which seems to be a constant issue with this car (as it was with the last generation).

useless feature. combine it with blind spot assist and it becomes even messier.

I don't think it will affect tire wear.

I leave mine on all the time and I don't find that I have to fight it. Rarely if the road is wet it will try to follow tar lines in the road instead of the painted lines, but that is a rarity.

If you don't like the assist you can turn it off in the settings and just leave on the lane departure warning, which only buzzes the steering wheel if you wander.

I don't find it useless, maybe unnecessary as many things are on luxury vehicles. It's nice to have on a long drive. I wish I had it on my semitruck, would make it so much easier to eat a sandwich while texting and driving lol. (Joke)

I don't use mine except when we go on long trips on the highway. Otherwise it is off. I like to control my own car instead of it controlling me

I used it for the first month or so. Got tired of it and turned it off. Haven't had it on since.

Im using the keep lane assist only on the highways and in condition when my concentration on the road conditions is not 100% then I also put the SCC(Smart Cruise Control) inline
those occasions are:
- trying to find something in the car
- writing an email
- browsing on the phone
- setting a point on the nav
- eating
- taking a long drive

In all other time, I prefer to control the vehicle with my both hands and feet

I think the SCC and Keep Lane Assist are very useful on highway drive

Scary! Thought it tried to turn me into on coming 18 wheeler on two lane highway. Don't trust it anymore. Set it to warning only. Maybe I'm just paranoid?

Yeah maybe just a little but having your saftey feature almost get you killed will do that to anyone sane.

At least your honest I'm the same, It makes me reminisce all the times I used to roll my own (cigarettes) while driving. How awesome would it have been to have this sweet feature... on my old 05 hyundai elentra lol .

I will either learn to let the car do the steering in appropriate situations, or turn it off... In time. For now I'm loving the idea of it all. I have a 12 mile drive to work that takes 45 min and I absolutely love the cruise. Glad to hear that the lane keep won't cause extra tire wear!
I don't understand how blind spot assist would make the drive messier? The only time it freaked me out was my first day of driving, I changed lanes and it made all kinds of noise and I couldn't figure out why.. Read the book and found out it's more advanced than the other cars I've had with it. It reacted because someone was coming up fast behind me in the lane I switched to.
I appreciate all of the input!
Love this car! If ionly it had Bose speakers I'd declare it perfection =) maybe in the future.....

Lane keep assist and the HUD make long interstate trips much less tiring. Driving through WV, I can actually enjoy the mountain views a little, even in heavy truck traffic.

Same here. On local roads, I find it is more intrusive than helpful. On the highway, it is GREAT.
