  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lane Keep Assist?

I agree. Clear weather, light to no traffic, well marked lanes, gentle curves, limited elevation change, steady speed, no intersecting or overtaking vehicles all contribute to longer time with hands off.

May have something to do with the driver attention system. Admittedly, I never really look at that screen nor do I know how it gauges your attention to the road, but it could logically factor in as a determinant for the alerts
I would say you're absolutely right. I had a chance to try it again very early morning drive. No cars on road yet. It went for about 10 minutes till I grabbed the wheel didn't really have to as there still was no alarm. Later in the day with more cars on the road in came up in alarm in about 10 seconds.

The Driver Attention System is passive. No cameras to see what you're doing. It is based on how you brake, abrupt lane changes, drifting lanes, and etc.

May not look at you but it is looking.
From the G80 manual:
✽ NOTICE
The Driver Attention Alert system
utilizes the camera sensor on the
front windshield for its operation.
To keep the camera sensor in the
best condition, you should observe
the followings:
• Do not disassemble camera temporarily
for tinted window or
attaching any types of coatings and
accessories. If you disassemble a
camera and assemble it again, take
your vehicle to an authorized
retailer of Genesis Branded products
and have the system checked
to need a calibration.
• Do not locate any reflective
objects (i.e. white paper, mirror)
over the dashboard. Any light
reflection may cause a mal-function
of the Driver Attention Alert
(DAA) system.
• Pay extreme caution to keep the
camera sensor out of water.

• Do not arbitrarily disassemble the
camera assembly, nor apply any
impact on the camera assembly.
• Playing the vehicle audio system
at high volume may offset the
Driver Attention Alert system
warning sounds.

Reviving an old thread. I test drove a used 2018 Genesis G80 and a used 2020 Sonata Limited today.

I felt the G80's Lane Assist wasn't as good as the Sonata's. I actually felt a tad unsafe in the G80. The Sonata was fantastic and even worked well on non-highway, city 30mph roads.

I haven't test driven a G70 yet (it's next on my list!) but can someone comment how a 2019 G70 compares with its LKA? I assume 2019 G70s are closer to the 2018 G80s than the Sonatas.

My 2019 G70 with LKAS works well and seems to keep the car rather close to the lane markers on the driver side of the car. It can be a bit unnerving as it corrects in time but the car is a foot or so closer to the left side markers than I would place it. I use the LKAS occasionally when distraction could allow me to wander too far on my own: eating while driving, keeping track of navigation screen in unfamiliar areas or busy interchanges and multiple turn directions for example. Otherwise, on open highway and familiar city streets I choose to go it alone. For me it is a supplemental aide, not something to enable every time.

Mine makes to many micro adjustments an if left to center itself its closer to the right side. anything over 85mph I turn it off.

I test drove a G70 earlier today on a highway and felt the same thing where the LKAS hugged the left side of the lane. I wonder if the system could be calibrated?
