  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, all. Just wondering about the latest guesses or rumors regarding the when the 2022 G70s will appear on our shores. Has anyone heard anything lately? The best guess I’ve heard is June For the US. I hope it’s sooner, though.

Good question! Per the website it says "Spring 2021 but Genesis USA has been heavily marketing the 21 model year G70 lately. Maybe they are trying to get rid of the current inventory before releasing them. I feel like all the attention on the new GV70 now. Kia dealers were getting and selling the facelifted Kia Stinger before Kia even updated the website.

Did anyone go for the launch edition?

I didn't, in part because I haven't had the chance to test drive the 2021 model yet. I want to be sure I'll be OK with a smaller car before I pull the trigger.

I was told by a couple dealerships that they are expecting them mid june.

however, i was told at the dealership i ended up purchasing my 2021 at, that they have heard it may be august/september before they see any.

Hard to tell if there's any validity to what the dealer told you or not. On the one hand, Hyundai has stopped production for a week at their Ulsan plant (where most Genesis models are made) and their Asan plant for two days due to microchip shortages. This would likely slow-down new model introductions, and as of right now, Genesis has at least 3 models queued for introductions over the next few months: G70, GV70, GV60 (probably in that order), and likely more vehicles that are unannounced. I did get the impression that 2022 G70 sales were imminent, but that's just my personal hunch.

On the other hand:
  1. For dealers, a sale today is better than a sale down the road because heck- who knows where any dealer employee will be in a few months.
  2. Dealers will tell you anything to help achieve item #1 🤣

for your 2 points. I had already bought the car but we are thinking of picking up a gv70 when they come out as well.

but yeah, they did mention the production shutdowns as to the rumors they wont see them till august most likely.

Good point about how the chip shortage is affecting Genesis production. Here's an article with more about the causes and outlook, which affects many products.

By the time it gets here they may as well update the engines no? I don’t know if it’s a good thing or bad thing taking that long to get here. An wasn’t there an article about how they weren’t having chip problems compared to everyone else? I may be wrong.

I wonder why production cuts don't prioritize keeping more expensive vehicles running. I'd think that with every chip counting, they'd want to prioritize the most expensive vehicles with higher margins per chip.

it'd be too late to update engines in the 2022 no matter when they actually end up getting here. would require going back to the drawing board for the car, and they are already in production
