  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Launch Edition Now Available

If you have an android phone, you can download the Genesis Digital Key app and use your phone to unlock by placing on the front two door handles. If you have an IOS phone, it doesn't have NFC capabilities and you should have gotten a Black key card to use in its place. I'm shocked the dealer didn't go over that or set that up for you.

Can you please let me know if the dash changes colour each time you change the drive mode. I’ve been seeing a couple of reviews and I don’t think the colours change as it does in the previous versions but wanted to double check.
you know what... I dont think it does. I honestly didnt study it much last night as I wasnt there long and was more concerned with paint inspection. I will take some pics in the next 24

Could you give your opinion after using the gauge cluster? Im not a big fan of the newer style half digital/half analog gauge clusters that are not symmetrical (I much prefer the 2021 gauge over the 2022 in terms of style and cleaner look), but curious if the functionality on the new one is worth the asymmetrical gauge cluster. Is there any big benefit(s) to the new one besides the blind view monitor cameras?
Will do!
correct it is not symmetrical. but for me I mostly use the heads-up display. So I am hoping it does not bother me.

No worries and thanks so much.

Im also purchasing a launch edition, what tips can you give for me to make sure the matte paint has no issues during inspection?

you will have to learn how to wash cars all over again. This is what I told the dealer today so I can inspect today then get it over to my detailer.

Keeping mind that everything you know and do with gloss paint goes 100% out the window. I am still kind of freaked out by this tbh

Car Prep for delivery

"base wash" by hand with a no-wax soap and water. simple towel dry.
no machine work, no polish/compound, no wax or detail spray, or no clay bar.

Lol, ok I’ll do some research as well. I’m ok with hand washing so no issues.

I was considering ceramic coating the car (minus gloss) from CeramicPro in order to reduce the amount of times I need to clean the exterior.

ceramic coating is what I am doing. you just have to research what / how or have a detailer that knows what they are doing.

Thoughts on getting the expel stealth that type of finish?

Thinking about it. I need to plan with my detailer to be honest to see what he recommends. I wouldn't wrap the whole car, just the front, so it would need to be really close sheen wise.

Wow, I get less and less impressed by the refresh seemingly every day. They really seem to have de-contented the car even compared to the 2021 models, especially given that some 2021s got the 3D cluster. Given that the G70 is their second best-selling vehicle, I cannot understand the rationale behind these decisions. Unless they add back these omissions for the 2023 model year, I'll either be going GV70 or holding on to my car after the lease until a new generation is available.

Honestly, the omission of so many features and what seems to be half-heartedness of the refresh make me think (or hope, at least) that we're going to see an all-new generation sooner than later. Maybe for 2024 model year? Especially since the G70 has been out in Korea since 2017 and their product lifecycles are typically about 6 years.

On a random note, it looks like they fixed the hood to front panel gap that some people fixed here.

Pics tomorrow. Dark out now. It comes with a very nice matte detailing kit from Dr beasleys

After seeing this thread earlier, I looked to see if there was any inventory near me in LA and was shocked to see that it’s actually quite plentiful. Went to look at one this evening and I gotta say, I just don’t see much reason to upgrade. The exhaust certainly sounds better, the bigger infotainment screen is great and super responsive, but the car just didn’t wow me enough to want it over my current one. I will say, the back looks a lot better in person that I expected.

I was also surprised to see that the Sport wheels are pure black now; was expecting them to be more of the dark grey/gun metal finish like they were previously. Looks worse in that regard imo. Also, that new side vent looks waaaay cheaper than the boomerang did, really not a fan of that.

Let me know how that goes, very curious myself.

Preach. I’ll just continue to save my money and keep looking at options. Dropped the ball on the G70. Maybe they should slow down on all the product launches.

quickly used the included Dr Beasleys Matte Final Finsih to go over the car. seems like a really nice product and came out great. There is a ton of metallic flake in this paint. I am loving it more by the minute. Haven't had any time to play inside or set anything up. hopefully tonight.

^ i can see by the staining on your driveway that you are no stranger to tire dressing! props for tackling the detailing job yourself, nice work.

Great color and that red interior is awesome.
Please give us some pics of the cluster and your toughts on it.
I’m very annoyed they went with a cluster half digital and asymetrical.
Really hoping it wont look too bad as im ordering mine now.

So not sure WTF genesis was thinking on the cluster. The now off center display is very limited to what is was in my 2020. Can’t even display the speed which is what I always used to have it set to.
Also there is zero change to the clusters or colors when changing drive modes.
now the interesting thing is the the entire left side is all one screen. Hopefully they can correct some of these shortcomings with an over the air update.
Sport+ is awesome though. Equivalent to a track mode. they also did a great job with the new exhaust and new nav screen/system.
