  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had the same experience - i figured a cash buy would give me the best offer, but it turned out to be the 3 yr lease.

Maybe at the end of that I can return it and buy a 2 year old 2021 G80.
AFAIK, the buyout price is determined when the lease is signed. Is that true? If instead, you buy the car upfront, how do you know what your 3 year old car is worth IF you bought one on the open market? Guessament? I recently read that the bottom had fallen out of the used car markets due to corona.

I guess it all depends on perspective. A new car every 3 years is kool, but no car payments, to me, for many years is more important.

That must be at the dealer & negotiation level, I'm not seeing lower advertised prices. Been helping a friend research used car prices and they haven't changed. I bet they are more willing to deal face to face. We have to be willing to negotiate and walk.

leased 3 years solely because I expected a facelift (and hopefully power lift) in three years from when I signed. It's looking like my hunch was right and the new G70 in '22 will have a new face and more power. When lease ends i'll trade it right in for the new one. Hoping for the GT70 to be released soon, would rather get in one of those tbh.

What about buying a used one off of lease? I was going to lease until a came across a '18 G80 V8 5.0 Ultimate for $31.9k. it had 32k mi but 35 months left on factory warranty. New it was $58k. Just a thought.

It's shocking to see how much depreciation there is on vehicles that cost over 40-50K. On the other hand, your reported 26K drop is the same as a rough day on the stock market with a sizeable portfolio. And we've had countless drops like this lately.

I do like NEW, but if I found one like you quoted, I would have to consider going that route.

Leased 2017 G80 for three years and decided to purchase. They cashed my check on 8/20/2020. Here it is 10/11/2020 (7 weeks later) and I still do't have my Title .The very worst customer service I've ever experienced! Now they claim mailed on 9/17/2020 ( almost a month after my payment) but it was lost in mail. I don't believe them because my son bought his Sonata 2 weeks before my purchase, still hasn't gotten his Title. Something suspicious is going on with the Titles.

I leased my new '19 base G80 for $37.5 plus ttl. I had intended to pay cash for it, but they offered such a low rate, I hated to sell investments that were doing much better percentage-wise, so agreed to the lease.

The payoff after three years is only $21,183. Even if I wanted to change cars, it seems like a no brainer to buy it - even if I just turn around and sell it. I drive low miles - currently only 5,500 first year. It's in perfect shape, can't imagine it being worth less than that.
