  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After spending several hours at 4 South Florida dealerships, was able to get a Tech Package for 1800 down + 1st month + 125 tag + 399 GAP insurance. 499 + tax monthly 24 months/12K miles, 66% depreciation and money factor of .00008 (1.92%). Everywhere I went, I was told initially this was not possible and was told that it would be anywhere from 619 to 629 per month. Two dealers would not budge, the third one's manager verbally accepted but I did not like the color they had available. Finally, the 4th dealer came from 629 to 499 as I was getting ready to walk out.

At the last minute, I decided to go with 15K miles per year, which changed the residual to 65%. The payments went to 525 per month. Since I had spent so much time on this and had an important meeting and wanted to wrap it up, I accepted, although I felt 515 to 520 is what I should have paid for the 15K.

Overall, I am satisfied that under current conditions, the deal was fair to me and more than fair to the dealer. I will figure tomorrow what the actual price of the car was, but it looks like they discounted it to around 38,600. Too tired now to figure out if the 500 in lease cash from HMFC are included in that figure. These dealers really try to confuse you!

I got a low ball offer for my trade, a 2007 Camry Hybrid with 23K miles NAV, leather, moonroof and XM. That is why I left it out of the deal and will be wholesaling it to a Toyota dealer or CarMax. Since the car is hot, might even try to sell it on AutoTrader.

Congrats Goodmove! Sounds like you got a great lease deal.

How was the inventory at the dealerships you visited? I am curious if you had a large selection to choose from, especially of tech packages. I noticed that Delray Hyundai was advertising the Genesis in the Sun-Sentinel today as the "BMW, Lexus and MB Killer"!

We have the same car except I have the tan interior. How about posting some pics of the cashmere interior?

Rick Case had 2 Tech, one base in Davie and 1 Tech, 1 Premium and 1 Premium Plus at their 441 store. Doral had at least 2 Tech, one base with 22" wheels ($4998 add on). Coconut Creek had 1 Tech and 1 Premium Plus.

They call the interior color Cashmere, but it is the beige/tan interior. Not the dark brown interior. I must say that the people that have seen the car agree that the color combination is great. Here's a link to Wikipedia's definition of Cashmere.

By the way, just took the car out (very humid South Florida night) and the windows kept fogging up. I could not find a setting to avoid this as of yet...

Congratulations, GoodMove! It looks like you got a great deal on your Hyundai Genesis! Post pictures when you find some time. It appears you're a good negotiator as well. We have a few onboard now. The Genesis is obviously bringing a smarter bunch of people to the table than Hyundai is used to dealing with! :)
