If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi Folks, having some concerns with my Gen Sedan 3.8 Tech Premium that i bought brand new in December. The seats are very comfy but i am really not happy with the stretching that is going on with the drivers side ..... i have already treated the seats with a high end leather conditioner several times . There are no cracks but the centre piece is looking very wavy and stretched out..... My current TL that is 5 years old and my previous Accord Coupe that was 4 years olddid not look anything close to this. My buddies drive a C class and 3 series BMW and again their seats look brand new and these are 6 year old vehicles . I am in TO Canada and took it to the dealer that i bought it from and was just brushed off with that this is normal unless it cracks or tears . Has anyone else had any similar experiences .... are there any actual official bulletins released that i could reference ......I was debating to go to another dealer to get a second opinion.

On this site look for Loose Leather On Drivers Seat blog lots of complaints and answers to assit you.I live in calif I have a 2012 4.6Tech package. With only 957 miles on my car my drivers seat looked so bad dealer tried to tell me that was normal wear yea right with only 957 miles.
I threaten to get a lawyer because the warranty covers replacement for workmanship defects. I contacted the Gensis customer care 1 (877) 378-8727 5:00am - 7:00pm PST.They were the laison between me and the dealership. The bottom line they replaced the rear seat and they had a local company remove the leather covering and re sowed the front seat covers. They're much better oh yea I couldn't use the heated seat buttons for 90 days.
Hyundai is aware of this problem on the Genesis. Asked the service manager to trade shirts with you re: if he or she paid cost of your Genny would they happy with the appearance of the seats pretty sure there answer would be Hell No!!!!! they would not accept the condition of your front seat check your rear seats. Please find that blog mentioned above.

I have a seat where something has rubbed the cashmere paint off. Has anyone had success getting it recolored?

8K miles, 5.0 R-Spec, 2013, same answer from dealer, normal wear. Contacted Hyundai, backs up dealer response. Guess I have to live with it

Do not live with the stretched seats.. There is another post where myself and many others weighed in. Some of us got things resolved.

However, now my drivers seat stretching is as bad as ever. And I carry passengers.. The right passenger seat is beginning to have the same problem. I will be posting shots of both seats over the weekend here and other old posts in the topic.

BTW, if Hyundai wants me to buy a 2014 Equus Ulitmate to add to the stable, fat chance if they are not able to take care of me on the seats. I really like the Equus.

Under 20k miles BTW.

Shrink the leather back by wetting the seat bottom with a weak solution of dish soap in water then dry with hair dryer. It will shrink back to original shape, however it will also stretch again. I did this on my passenger seat after a really heavy fat guy stretched the leather on the bottom and back of the seat. Turned out perfect.

Has anyone had any luck fitting Genesis Coupe seats in the front of a sedan to 1)have less stretching problems and 2)actually have some support?

I saw a set of black fronts for about $500 on eBay, just wonder if ANY of the holes line up.

Also, I'd gladly give up the cooled seat function to have solid leather not the M-B 300D looking perforated stuff.

Having a puddle of loose leather in the driver's seat is not cool. The GenesisOwners Forum helped with this by providing info on how other owners got their dealers to provide a fix. The dealer here in Columbia, SC tried to brush me off the same way by calling it normal. I couldn't believe they actually said that out loud, like where it could actually be heard! I started quoting the Genesis Forum fixes I'd read about and their tune changed quickly. They told me they would provide the fix as a "one time only" repair. So my 2013 Sedan w/Tech is at the dealer today getting Botoxed. Hyundai should listen up and not give other manufacturers something to laugh at when the rest of the car is so great! I could show 'em my 2006 350Z leather seats (which also look brand new) as an example if Hyundai needs that kind of motivation.

This question is for those who have bugged their dealer to "fix" the seat issue:

Has the problem come back or did you get a long term fix?

I see no point in bugging my dealer if replacing the seat only fixes the issue for 10K miles.

According to one post here somewhere, a dealer agreed to send the car out to an auto upholster and have them remove the factory foam and replace it with foam that won't collapse. As I remember, that was a permanent fix for the poster. Stop and think about it - if the foam can't return to original shape, the leather will naturally stretch, as if some. 400 lb. dude was always sitting on the seat. My seat was replaced under warranty without question by the dealer, but two weeks later it looked as before. OBTW - in case you're wondering - I'm not that 400 lb. dude!
:D

The wrinkles and stretching came back for my 2012 5.0 after the drivers seat was "fixed".. In previos post (and before the iPhone said the admin was blocking from uploading pictures), I had uploaded the fixed seat.

It is as bad as it was before. The dealer had a upholstery company come in, stretch the leather and add some foam. Lasted about 3 months. The ventilated seat flow is not as good. Also the heat seems more blocked than the passenger seat.

I had the bottom cushion replaced by the dealer 2 days ago. I can already tell you that it is not a permanent fix.

Thanks. So far I am thinking that having an upholstery shop take the slack out might be the best approach.

I would change the density of the foam. Just tightening up the leather will only become loose again in the future.
