  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I just completed my LED conversion project and I am very happy with the outcome. The biggest imact I noticed was how much brighter they made the footwells.

The only ones I didn't do where the vanity mirror bulbs as my wife said she likes the warmer light when putting on make up, but she
loves the LED's everywhere else.

The front park lamp bulbs where quite pain in the but to do, but well worth the effort.

I tthink my next project will be to replace the fog lamps with HID's (I might go with yellow 3000K bulbs
).

Thanks to all the others who did the upgrades as the info you all posted was invaluable.

I see you also converted the lights in the footwells. What turns on these footwell lights? Having the 'door' switch on and opening a door doesn't turn them on nor does turning the instrument panel rotary knob all the way up. I'm beginning to think I don't have them in my sedan. As a last resort I guess I'll try to manuver under the dash (but I'm afraid I may not be able to retreat once I'm under there. I almost couldn't get out of the trunk when replacing the trunk lamps). This stuff is for 'kids'.

Also, how did you change the door courtesy lamps? I could get the plastic cover off but could not remove the bulb.

Thanks for any help.

The footwell lights are on when the door is unlocked. They are not very bright at all and you probably can't see them. You will see them if you bend over and get underneath.

If you want to see them a bit better, turn your Door lamp switch off on the overhead console, then open the door, you should see the light better.

The puddle lamp (courtesy) bulbs are just wedged in and you just have to get a firm grip and pull it out, no turning or twisting.

Thank you.

It took a while in a darkened garage but lo and behold, they were 'on'. I'm sure they will be noticed once the led's replace them.

As was said before, the footwell lamps are not very bright. (This is an understatement).
At first, I also thought that they did not work, but when I opened the doors in a dark garage, I could see that yes, they work, but VERY DIM.

I checked the bulbs, and found that they have a small "condom" on them. I removed the condom and it makes the bulbs just slightly brighter. (not much, but slightly).

Aside from the blue-ish plastic on the bulb, whether you replace the bulbs with LED's or not, you'll get significantly more light if you just leave off the light assembly's plastic cover. From experience, you can't get the brilliant light shown in those LED "after" photos with the cover on since it's opaque.

I'm satisfied with the improvement the LED's have made......but getting the bulb out of the socket on the passenger's side took almost 20 minutes and a lot of sticktoitiveness.

Ha...its funny you say that because my passenger side was tougher to get out then the rest. Must have been the same guy a that installed it on both our cars.

I went ahead and removed the three black screws just below the bottom edge of the glove compartment. Doing this allows the plastic footwell dash cover to pull down and with a twist the bulb socket can be removed from the backside of the dash cover. Very easy to get a good grip on the bulb this way. Replace the bulb (I recommend superbrightleds.com model WLED-WHP5), twist the socket back into the dash panel, and then put the three screws back into place.

Hi there. I can't find a thread anywhere on how to get to the the Front Parking Lamps. How did you get in there? Is there a thread anywhere on this or do you mind posting how you got into the front light assembly?

what bulb is used in the dome/map lights? which did you use?
