  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Howdy y'all, I recently upgraded from a Sonata to the 5.0 and I'm looking to replace my yellow lights with a closer match to the HIDs. I never use my fogs and rarely use the hi-beams, so my main concerns are color and compatibility. I'm looking at the following two options:

Hi-beams: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R92O1QQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Fogs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N5BAWYK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I notice that neither of these have ballasts/resistors/etc. - they're simply plug and play. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

OEM HID's are 4300K in color IMHO LED is not the best way to go. LED's are still in their infancy and unable to project focused light as far as the stock halogens that came with the car.
Both Phillips and Osram make halogens in the 4100K and 4200K variants of the halogen bulb. Phillips is X-Treme & Crystal Vision Ultra and Osram Sylvania is Silverstar ZXE.
People will claim that some of the new LED's are great but they are a scattered light that sends so much light to the ground in front of the car that it affects your ability to see down the road, great at 20mph not so much at 50mph.

Thanks for the replies.

I should have been more clear - I'm not concerned with performance/output, only color (not yellow) and compatibility. To rephrase - does anyone know if these will work for a simple swap from the OEM halogen bulbs? My concern arises from how simple this seems, almost too simple. Just wanna make sure that I won't melt my housing, blow a fuse, etc.

Well, apparently they'll be here tonight/tomorrow, so I'll give them a shot and update this post once they're installed.

LED's will not melt anything, they run cooler than any of the light bulbs you can buy, they also draw less amperage than anything else so that shouldn't be a concern either.

Awesome, thank you! Pics to come

Have been running Putco Nova LED bulbs in the fogs and Morimoto XB LED bulbs in the high beams of my 2011 for a few years now. Both are rated at 6000k, they are a close match (Closer match than if I got 5000k if you ask me) to the factory HID bulbs. I have a set of Morimoto 6000k HID bulbs laying around that I will find motivation to install one day.

Nice..I have been curious about the PUTCOs LEDs for the headlights. I have been running Morimotos 5k HIDs for the regulars for awhile. I love them but sometimes on a REALLY dark road I feel like I am on a scary movie. My HIs are from iJDMTOY. They do nothing.... LOL

excuse my ignorance, but what can i do about the ugly yellow fog lights... is there a way to make them a different color but also still works in fog? or is yellow the only color for driving in fog?

Vinyl...or change the bulbs

Not sure i understand what you meant by vinyl? and i realize, need to change the bulbs, but does white color work for fog? or do i still need to use a yellow?

Sorry
place like www.lamin-x.com. Good stuff. Very forgiving. I have had mine covered (protected) for years with no issues. Really makes mine look different.
If you really want yellow without changing lens color with vinyl just change bulb to 3000-3500k bulb.

so i could go to my guy that does window tinting and vinyl wrapping to have this done? i could care less about keeping yellow color.. was just curious if changing from the yellow light, that they would still be effective in fog with a different color?

But I bet they look badass!

Doesn't the Hi-beam DRL run at 6 volt???...Would that effect the color?

It does not effect the color, but I think it would effect the brightness of the HIs

Yellow is the closest to daylight, and therefore the most effective in fog. If you actually have to use your fogs, I would not change the color
