  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello & good morning..:)

I have a 2014 Genesis 3.8 Sedan with 1332 miles on it and while driving last night with the radio off I heard a Rattle / Banging of metal against metal.

I started to look at the front left wheel as that's where I heard it coming from so I kicked the tire and heard the noise.

I put my hand through the wheel & what's making the noise is the metal shield that goes 3/4 around the Rotor. It doesn't appear to be bent and I haven't hit anything but the shield seems to be very close to the rotor & control arm.

The other 3 wheels don't make the same rattle as the shield seems to be more Rigid.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Thank You in advance for any suggestions.

Take the wheel off and see if the bolts holding the shield on are tight. They probably just worked themselves loose.

I checked that first and they are all there & tight..

Seems like it doesn't fit correctly...Taking a trip to the dealer in the morning..

Thanks for the reply...:)

The dealer found a the Dust shield severely bent & they replaced it.

After I wiped the Grease off of the inside of the drivers door, steering wheel, front fender & front rim that the mechanics always fail to do on every car I've taken to this dealer, everything seems to be normal now

How the shield got that way considering I haven't hit anything is a mystery..

I bought the Genesis off the showroom floor with 18 miles on it so my guess is it happened on a test drive.

Anyway thanks for the reply..
