  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know the mods will think this belongs in OT, but I will tell you why it doesn't. Bear with me.

I have been a part of many forums. Nissan, Dodge, Cobalt SS, Web Dev/hacking, firearms, and (of course) the Genesis forums. From what I have experienced, this forum has the least amount of "Trolls" in the sense of the Trolls I am used to.

This site has some trolls (those being people who refuse to conform or speak of totally irrelevant things within threads). However, on the other forums I frequent, there are less educated trolls...if I may. By this I mean threads started with titles like "Does anyone has these grills"...no joke. Or people who make ~12 threads a day about topics that are still on page one.

The reason why this pertains SPECIFICALLY to the Sedan forums (I feel) has to do with PRICE POINT. In general, ricers can't afford these cars. Ricers can still afford the Genesis Coupe, however. THAT is why I posted this here. If mods deem it necessary to move, please do so.

I like being here. It's a break from the everyday ricer community which my old forum seems to be slipping into. I don't foresee the ricer community being a problem here and I relish in that thought.

Feel free to discuss your e-pinions about trolls below :)

Seems to me the trolling activity here has been pretty light recently. In the past there have been a couple of incredibly annoying trolls, but I just put them on my Ignore list so I don't see their posts. I've noticed a few posts pertaining to the Genesis coupe, but I didn't view them as trolling as much as just in the wrong forum.

Just my .02

By the way, does anyone has these grills?

I know a place out near me that sells only the best Grills :D

The OP made a good point - the younger forum crowd generally can't afford a car like the Genesis - and many older people I know don't even know what it is. I'm asked all the time about the car.

I see TROLLS as people who lurk on forums to bait people - and irk the forum members - for example : An SRT8 forum member popping on here posting videos of his badass SRT up against the 5.0 R Spec

Or the typical Mustang owner talking trash to rile everyone up

We just had a TROLL on here the other day do something similar

I'm used to it from the other forums too

If you don't like the Genesis - then don't buy one

No need to talk trash about the car - or the forum members who like them

As for the other kind of "question " take up your time TROLL

Ignore them ;)

Eventually - they go away

LOL! But it is baffling that someone who doesn't like a certain car will go through all the hassle to join that car's forum SOLELY to talk trash about it....

. . . or someone who is so fixated on another brand of car that we read comparisons from sunup to sundown, relevant or not. OCD behavior.

Trolls you say?

yea, I've had the unsavory experience of encountering a troll on this forum that goes by the name Mark_888. The last few threads that I started he/she, for some reason that is unknown, had to make derogatory comments. Intrigued by this troll, I looked into some other comments made by him and found that this is a common occurence. I'm sure some of you that post frequently have been graced by one of his savory comments :D..

I just don't understand why any member of this forum would want to be mean and rude to other members, after all we all have something in common! But then again, some people were just not hugged enough as children ;) I guess!

So let's all get along, and be nice to eachother! :grouphug:

Just because I made a joke about you wanting to become a "Senior" member of the forum (next to your avatar) does not make me a troll. Grow up (and keep posting so you can get your coveted Senior member status).

I've read the comments that you leave on other members threads...your not fooling anyone, your a bonafide Forum Troll.

So try being nice to others and stop focusing on people's flaws, there is no such thing as a stupid question in this forum IMO, what your going to do on here is prevent people from joining or starting threads because they have to worry about being sabotaged by you.

Cheers,
Staz!

Maybe you can enlighten me with where I focus on other people's flaws. Just because I made a joke (offering to fix it for $50) about you wanting so desperately to become a "senior member" (you even told us how you were deserving because your your posts contributed a lot to the forum, so don't try and tell us you were just "asking a question") doesn't mean I attack people. People need to lighten up and not take everything so seriously.

If you want to hear about attacks and threats against others, read your own posts and PM's such as this one you sent to me on 06-02-2012, 10:54 PM EDT:

..wish I had the pleasure of meeting you in real life, i'd shallow your ****ing face

Niot only is that rude, it is a Federal crime to threaten violence against someone online.

I'm impressed that a troll can have 3469 posts before being outed.

:)

He's a ninja troll.

Look my experience is that Mark can be very direct at times and maybe it seems he's abrupt but he's added a ton of good info to the forum.

Agreed. Mark likes to have the last word, however on most subjects, he makes a useful contribution.

Oh boy! This thread blew up!! BTW, it is illegal to threaten someone over email...but this isn't email. It's a forum. You can say anything you want on a forum. Over email is a different situation.

Email is a legal medium, Forum posts are not ha!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I think you will find in a few years when the used price point gets low enough there will many threads about turning these sedans into race cars and drifters. Its inevitable. Lets face it these forums attract individuals that take themselves and their cars way to serious. All the rest is just ego jousting and they should get a life.
I believe this forum provides superb comments and info. that softens the too often unpredictable nature of car ownership. Hyundai is Korean for "don't be a snob";)

What I quoted was a private message (a type of email), not a public post on this forum, and does fall under the Federal law I mentioned. If he had posted that on the public forum, hopefully he would be banned by the moderators.

I really don't care to have the last word as much as you might think, but when people attack my posts, they often get upset when I don't respond to them.

In any case, I don't see any harm in a free exchange of ideas, and even when we don't all agree on things. But it is important to not attack people personally, and to have some sense of humor when a joke is made.
