  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Let's talk about the Coupe - and how we'll support it here...

Should the Genesis Coupe get a different area here? Something to focus specifically on it and leave the Genesis Sedan separate? If so, what's your reasoning behind that? Let's discuss the advantages and disadvantages...

Thank you...

My guess would be it needs its own area. Based on shared components, or lack thereof. For instance, if there were a Genesis convertible, only difference being the top goes up/down, then it should be in here. The coupe, on the other hand, I believe shares no common engine, don't know about tranny, and it will have many more aftermarket components and tuning issues. Can't imagine a lot of stuff is going to "match up." I also think it is aimed at an entirely different market segment, which I have no interest in, which is why I bought a sedan. I think the major common thread would be the name badge....it's a Genesis.

I agree with Ric that the coupe is intended (and likely) to go after a substantially different demographic than the sedan is (to say nothing of what are expected to be numerous unique design points), so separate sites seems reasonable.

Then again, the two styles ARE siblings with a number of things in common, so keeping them linked somehow couldn't hurt (e.g. summarize the most active threads of one site on the opening page of the other, or something like that).

I thought the V6 engine was the same? No?

In any event, let's keep getting opinions. So far I agree with everything you guys have brought up. I just want to make sure the bulk of us understand why we may separate the vehicles. And, if enough people can state logical reasons why it's not a good idea, I'll reconsider it.

Thanks again!
