  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon bass too much!!

It's starting to get an assload of rattles in the rear deck as well. Word of caution. Slapping some Dynamat doesn't always fix it. (You don't need 100% coverage of Dynamat to make it effective either...that's another topic). You may need to get some sort of foam padding to line between the deck and the deck cover.

I think the rattle is not coming from dec its from the subuffer itself !!

I'm feeling very left out here. I tend to like a little more bass than less, but, I have to crank my tone controls up in order to get the bass I like, even then it's not boomy at all......... hhhhmm........ maybe I need to check and see if all the speakers are wired up since my dealer did go into my the back of my genny to replace the fuel tank filter...... maybe they goofed up something then.

To much bass.. i think thats whats lacking in my genesis... The lexicon sound system is loud and clear but bassy it is not.

so up to now, primary listening has been radio (mix of AM/FM both HD & non) plus XM. today i tried a couple of older CDs - Grofe's Grand Canyon Suite and 77s More Miserable Than You'll Ever Be. Surround Sound enabled, EQ set flat (as is the case with radio listening).

the only phrase that comes to mind is "midrange honk". it's clean, but not crisp, and there is no bottom to speak of. even with the bass EQ'd to top, tympani, string bass & bassoon are just not there (speaking Grofe there - 7s have no bassoon :D).

the local dealer has a couple others on the lot; i think it's time to do an A/B comparison. it's almost like the sub is inoperable ...

The system is designed to play DVD-A or DVD Audio disks which are/were meant to be the best of the best when it came to audio quality/clarity but their popularity never took off. Thus leaving us with a rather lack luster library of music to choose from provided you can even find DVD-A disks. Online is your best bet but finding what you want is (at least for me) impossible. For others maybe not so much. I personally have never heard a DVD-A so I can not attest to their greatness but it may be worth a search on Amazon.

It's not that the popularity never took off, it was just ahead of it's time in the industry. The format came out in 1999 and I don't know of any vehicles then that had DVD-A audio systems in them. By 2008 DVD-A was all but dead with the onset of downloadable music in a reasonably high quality format.

Most of the discs tracks are extremely high quality and I enjoy keeping the 6 pack loaded in the car. If you ever wanna just wow someone pop in Big Phat Band (Big Band Music) and let them hear the Lexicon system at near perfection. It doesn't matter if that's not their taste in music, it will still usually leave them speechless at the pure sound quality. Also Billy Idol tracks in this format just rock out :D

Big Phat Band's - Swinging for The Fences.... can be found on Amazon ($25) or on eBay from a highly reputable seller (1,660,000+) feed-backs...and no it's not me selling it lol..... for $18.26 shipping included.

My thoughts exactly. I cannot imagine someone thinking MY Lexicon system has too much bass... hhhhmmmmmmmm

Unfortunately I think that this thread much like many of them here are all based on everyone's idea of what a great sound system sounds like. When someone describes the best looking woman/man of their dreams no two will look the same unless they are twins :D

Lexicons idea of a great sound system and each of our ideas fall victim to the same fate. They should have a section of this forum called the 3 Little Bears posts.

For people saying that there is hardly any bass in the Lexicon, are you using BlueTooth connection or USB?

When I use Bluetooth Connection, the bass is not good and not as much compared to USB where the bass is A LOT better and you can actually hear the bass.

The radio, or inline aux cable from phone... It had good midrange but not that great bass imo. I haven't tried cd's but then again i haven't used those hardly at all.
