If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Now that I've been driving my 2011 4.6 Tech around for a bit, I want to comment on the audio system. I truly love the Lexicon sound. But Hyundai totally botched the user functions on this in so many ways, it's comical.

I use an iPod plugged in nearly all the time. So that's the basis of my comments.

1. Every time you restart the car, you need to go back into "Random" mode. What a PITA.

2. If you choose a Playlist and then change your mind once you are inside the playlist and randomly using it for music. You cannot go out and get to another playlist. You have to jump to AM/FM or some other setting. There is no way to get out and choose a different playlist. Really lame.

3. No Bluetooth audio? Must have a cable? Even my Ford's can do Bluetooth and have been for 5 years now.

4. If you are inside of a playlist, but haven't actually selected a song in that playlist, you go to random, the system will do random from whatever playlist you were last in. Not the playlist you are currently in.

5. If you select random while listening to a song, the system thinks you mean random right now.. Not like turning shuffle on and off.... Instead it changes your song immediately.

6. The EQ settings are buried and cannot easily be accessed. So if you decide to change music types from one playlist to another, you have to dig in to change the EQ settings which are not convenient at all to access.

7. When making a Bluetooth phone call, instead of pausing the audio, it just silences the audio but your tracks keep on passing by and you do not come back to the song you were listening too,,,, instead you are now 5 tracks past or more depending upon the length of your call.

8. Is it too much to ask for a method of scrolling/paging through songs easier? Try to start at the top of your list in the A's and work your way down to the G's. You will be there a while. Gonna wear the knob out either by spinning it or paging it. Seems easy to have added an alphabet scroll feature since they already have one in the GPS function screens.

There are a lot more. But does anyone else feel that Lexicon did their job, as it sounds fantastic!!!!! But Hyundai didn't do their job, seems like they had a tire engineer who never used an audio system program this thing.

Are there any software updates out there to fix any of this poor programming?

I am not a Genesis owner (yet) but wanted to know if there are voice commands you could program in to get around some of the issues you are having?

A number of the issues you mention seemed fixed on my 2013. The 2015 will have further improvements such as SiriEyesFree which I wish I had. My point is that Hyundai is improving the system.

I would agree, my 2013 seems to address all of the items listed, I can listen to A2DP (Bluetooth Audio), I can page scroll by hitting the DIS knob down (instead of rotating it) ETC...

The only issue I currently have (is pretty much the same in all cars), I wish it was a bit louder, and I wish the 8" sub was a 10". Both of these can be addressed, but there it is...

i agree. it needs more bass. i will install a single 12" sub + amp soon. should be under $400 or so to do.

Interesting - I wonder if the 2011 software can be updated to the 2013 spec? Are the systems basically the same? Minus the Bluetooth Audio capability, I assume the system hardware is unchanged.....

Yes, the 2011 can scroll by page in the same way, by hitting the DIS knob down. But this still sucks bad. Way too slow if you are in the A's and have a lot of music to scroll before you get to the M's or something similar.

If you look how they pull up what looks like a race track oval to spin around to each letter of the alphabet in the Navi system.... That would be ideal in the audio portion for scrolling to a section or specific song.

Good point. I have used the Voice Commands for Navi and Phone. I do not know how they work on the audio system portion. I will need to play around with that and see. Although I am the type the prefers a physical interface.

To be sure though - the system sound is truly fantastic. Although I do agree I would like to have a little more bass at times. But not enough for me to install a separate sub woofer as some have mentioned.

You can do all of that directly from your I pod. ;)

I do admit that it's a pain doing it all from the cars controls. But then again, you shouldn't be doing all of that while driving. ;)

Voice commands would be great for all functions if we could get them.

This has to be one of my bigger disappointments with the Genny. Being that she was brought to NA in 2009 I would have hopped that the tech package was truly a TECH PACKAGE instead it should have been called a Premium Sound (Thx Ford) package. The tech on 2009-2011 Genny's is a bit behind the power curve when it comes to actual technology. The omission of blue-link, Bluetooth streaming, Siri functionality as well as simply loading your damn phone contacts; in addition to the other points brought up in by the op and others is a MAJOR FAIL by Hyundai. It seems that they are slowly starting to turn the ship around but in the mean time much like all things in new technology it is the early adopters that pay the most for the product and get the least. I mean even the Sonata line had some of these "tech" features prior to the Genny line disappointing is what it is....

Not only is it a major disappointment, their last iteration of updates is done!!! No more updates for the Lexicon system from 2013 back........ MAJOR suck!!!!
