  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello guys.

Is Lexicon sound an option for G70?
I was browsing through some of the g70 and few listing it had 6 speaker and other had 15 speakers.

If I don't have window sticker and just looking car photos. How do I distinguish between Lexicon vs general sound speaker on G70?

Thanks.

It's in the "Elite" and above packages.
If looking at pictures online, the metal speaker grill directly below the door handle will say Lexicon on it.

Elite, Prestige, and Sport is listed to the right.

6 speakers = non-Lexicon. 15 speakers = Lexicon.

In your opinion, is the Lexicon upgrade worth it? How quiet is the interior overall?

While I've read some complaints on this forum, I think it's brilliant... about the same quality as in my 2013 A4 that had the B&O system, but with more bass (not boomy, either). I did have to tweak the equalizer more than I had to in the A4, but that could come down to my personal preference more than anything.

My car is extremely quiet, but again, some others have had different experiences... YMMV.

i never tried the non-Lexicon system. in CAD, only the base 2.0T Advanced has the base non-Lexicon. and there are very few base G70's on the road. every other trim gets the Lexicon system. i'm not sure what the split is, but most 3.3T's are Sports, and most 2.0T's are either Prestige or Elite.

that said, i am very happy with the Lexicon in my 2.0T Sport 6MT. it is the best factory system i've ever had, but maybe not as good as my home-made systems when i was young and dumb. much better than the Bose i had in my Infinitis.

Hi,
I’m a new owner, but so far, in my experience, The Lexicon stereo installed on the G70 is a very good system. I do recommend you to tune the equalizer to your preferred settings, And remember to do it with your phone physically connected using a quality cable. Use Bluetooth is going to diminish the sound significantly due to the use of compressed audio. I tested both ways, and the difference is huge.

Good thing to know. I have never thought about bluetooth vs physically connecting the cable will have huge difference

I think it's the best stock system I've had. I use a USB drive with all of my ripped cd's.
HD radio sounds good as well.
Sirius not so much though.
There is a good amount of adjustments available to tweak the sound.

I had Lexicon sound system in my previous ride the '13 Genesis r-spec.
And the new G70 Lexicon system sounds a lot better by comparison.
In the G70. The high frequency is more pristine and the low (bass) is powerful with more punch or authority.
A few years apart makes a huge difference in technologies IMO.
I definitely recommend the Lexicon.
I agreed on wireless BT. It sounds thin and weak.
I mostly listen/stream to my music from Spotify using AA when I drive.

I have seen a ton of "Advanced" trim models around me that have the Lexicon system. Did it come standard on the 3.3?

I'm pretty sure they all come with Lexicon speakers and the same sound system

Incorrect... The base model 2.0T comes with a six speaker audio system.

Agree with these points. Subjectively speaking, I think the G70 seems to have a bit more bass as well, even though I typically add sub-woofers to my cars anyway making it somewhat less of an issue. What's ironic is I don't actually like my music too loud; I just like to feel it even when it's turned down low.

They definitely have a 6 speaket radio in tbe base 3 3 awd g70.

The Lexicon speakers live or die by the quality of the source you throw at them. I would argue that using the LDAC codec is as good as using a cable connection. You need to buy a wireless adapter that supports that codec though in order for it to work.

Comparing a standard BT connection with my iPhone (WMA, ATRAC or AAC) vs. an LDAC connection with my Android phone is night and day sound quality wise. You also need to send the speakers uncompressed audio if possible (FLAC, ALAC or WAV vs MP3s).

I agree, it's the best sounding stock speaker system I've ever had in a car. A high quality source will get you much better bass and crisper highs too.

I use this device for streaming LDAC and have been very happy with it.

2022+ models don't have the aux port. What then?
