  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon Sound Speaker option

2022+ models don't have the aux port. What then?
I wasn't aware of that. That's an unfortunate feature omission.

I guess a wired connection is the way to go then.

Wireless BT. Mine is https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MA1-Wireless-Android-Adapter/dp/B09PQ95GY4

HiRes Audio Wireless supports many uncompressed codec, including LDAC. My android phone also supports LDAC, and others.

You do need source material that is HiRes uncompressed. These days, I listen to Amazon Music Unlimited almost exclusively. They have materials that are 24bit/192kHz. Even Dolby ATMOS.

Is that OK?

AAC is generally considerably better than MP3, but it is still a lossy compression. In a car, while driving, with all the engine, road and wind noise, you'd probably not hear the difference between it and quality lossless Hi-Res Audio. Parked in your driveway, engine shut off, in the silence of a clear night... probably. Especially an audiophile that is used to auditioning reference systems on familiar tracks.

Still, it is what your own ears hears that matters. If it sounds good to you and it's enjoyable to listen to... forget what I (or any body else might) say. :)

256 AAC is excellent, a lot of the audiophile choices are a psychological game, imho. preamps, amps, speakers, can all "color" music; some would argue cables, interconnects, power source, etc. have dramatic effects. even in live music performances, arguments can be made about the concert hall, seat position...
to me, the way the recording is mastered has the biggest influence on the sound. once again, this is all my opinion.

If you want to read a bit more on digital audio transfer, here's a good bit of discussion. It's in the GV70 forum, but applies just the same: Playing music from USB Drive

Since the topic of this thread is speaker options, I'd just add that in a car cabin, the number of speakers is not so much the biggest issue (though mfrs love to tout that figure), but the PLACEMENT and AIMING of those speakers. For optimum front soundstage, tweeter and midrange should be as close together and collectively as far away from the listener's head as possible. This helps minimize the path length difference between LEFT and RIGHT channels and improves the stereo image. Also, the L+R speakers should be positioned in a "crossfire", with left speakers aiming at the head of the right passenger, and right speakers aiming at the head of the driver. This uses the natural off-axis roll-off of most speakers to attenuate the perceived volume to the nearer listener, which enhances stereo imaging even more. This is especially true for tweeters, since higher frequencies are more directional.

Well, in the G70, the front speakers placement aren't done as per the above. That is one the biggest problems I have with G70 audio, even with the Lexicon system, regardless of all other factors.

I think it's the best stock system I've had. I use a USB drive with all of my ripped cd's.
HD radio sounds good as well.
Sirius not so much though.
There is a good amount of adjustments available to tweak the sound.
Problem is SIRIUS does NOT transmit in Stereo.
