  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon sound system rattles!

Has anyone noticed the lexicon system is good but tends to rattle alot as if hyundai did not insulate the speakers and subs well? I notice it from the sub alot which has been replaced twice! I usually notice it on sirius xm because that is all I listen to. Any thoughts?

I have the same issue but in my front doors.

On a side note, the sound quality of XM is TERRIBLE. So that's not helping the cause either.

My rattle comes from the piece covering up the subwoofer, and whatever else is there, from the trunk side. The 'cover' tends to vibrate when I play certain songs, as the edges of this so called lid, appear loose, or not fitted tightly. Hence, when the stereo goes boom boom boom, the inner trunk piece goes buzz buzz buzz. The lip to this lid is on the outside of the trunks liner, and I have to figure out how to get it on the inside, altho the car is still new, and under warranty, so maybe I will leave it for the dealer to work out.

I still have rattling from the rear sunshade. It pisses me off. I don't know what is left to do.

My '12 r Spec has no rattles and I listen to the stereo loud, around 30, when the wife is not in the car.

But also leave the rear sun screen up all the time so don't know if that makes a difference.

The rattle issue the car was one factor I took into consideration before trading her in. I couldn't take it no more and it was definitely annoying when I love listening to music, but then hearing those rattles made the car sound cheap.

I loved the Lexicon but those rattles... horrible! I don't miss it.

I can't say much on if this is fixed on the '15 or not but I sure hope it is.

Zero rattles on my 2015. With or without the rear shade down.

Figured out what the rattle that I have been experiencing for a year and that everyone has been talking about on the rear deck. I took the rear deck apart last weekend and found out it was the rear shade motor that was resonating in response to the subwoofer. This is because the motor is somewhat undamped and allowed to vibrate. As soon as I put some damping material under that motor the rattle went away 100% and I can use the rear shade whenever I want! :)

Just to let everyone know of my personal experience with the rear deck rattle. I was experiencing the same issue with rattles because I thought It was the upgrade I did of the subwoofer. I then proceeded to dynamat the entire rear deck and still rattle. come to find out that the rear deck has four clips ( two right behind the subwoofer towards the back glass ) and two more clips, one on each end by the c pillar that were not engaged and the rattle came from there. If those clips are not engaged, the leg where they sit is what makes the panel rattle. You mentioned that you changed the subwoofer several times and when you're putting back the panel you are problably not engaging those clips. the easiest way to find out if those clips are engaged is by going thru the trunk and by pulling the cover were the subwoofer sticks out. (this lining is held with two clips). you can now see the bottom of your rear deck and the four clips. these clips are white and when looking from the trunk, these clips are now in front of the subwoofer. I am almost certain that this is the problem you're having because it drove me nuts for weeks. good luck
