  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon sound system with Harsh S ( Sibiliance) in my new Genesis G80 Ultimate

I noticed it diminishes a little when I placed a dash mat but someone did mention replacing the speakers fixed it. I plan to do that sometime this year and I'll update on what happens. The dealer has not been helpful I've messaged genesis on social media and they have not responded so I've started commenting on their g80 advertisements to see if they respond that way. Maybe you guys should do the same comment on their advertisements on social media, if enough of us speak up they might reply and have someone look into it.

[...] the only thing that changed was the addition of Lexicons fancy sound processing which is either an external unit or built into the head unit.

I think you're onto something. According to the brochures...

In the MY 2015, 2016 and 2017s:
Lexicon® 17-speaker Discrete Logic 7® Surround Sound Audio System

In MY 2018 onward:
Lexicon® 17-speaker Quantum Logic® Surround Sound audio with Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration Technology

@Comp625, according to Lexicons website, all sound processing is done at the amplifier, "AMPLIFIER 12-channel, 900-Watt amplifier uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to balance and enhance tonal blending, regardless of music or broadcast source. ", I'm going to email Lexicon directly and see if they can help. I'll keep you posted.

According to Lexicon's website the processing is done right at the amplifier, "AMPLIFIER 12-channel, 900-Watt amplifier uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to balance and enhance tonal blending, regardless of music or broadcast source. " I'm gonna send them an email maybe they can be some help.

Did you ever find out more about this issue? I'm curious how Lexicon responded... I'm betting they punted it back to Hyundai/Genesis.

I have an unusual idea but have you tried to pull the center dash speaker (if that's the only significantly audible source of sibilance)? Like you said in a different post, the DSP is probably imbalanced and not properly equalized, and pulling the problematic speaker may alleviate the issue.

They never responded, but I do plan on disconnecting and possibly replacing the dash speakers in the next few months when i get some free time. I'll keep you updated!

Over on the G70 forums, this thread talks about the sound processor and amp being the perpetrator in causing the harsh S sibilance. User viciousCircle mentions how shops can replace the sound processor and amp and that it's a common thing to do.

Did this ever get resolved???? It's an unfortunate, ongoing problem - even in my 2022 GV70...
