If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got in my car this afternoon after work and turned it on. Turned to my favorite mp3 and guess what? NO SOUND. No sound from mp3, XM, FM, AM, Bluetooth. System would not pair up to my iPhone... nothing, nada!

I only have 5300 miles on the car. I was so disappointed today. So I went driving down the road and the darn thing booted on me. I heard it clicking and the blue Genesis screen came on and still nothing. I pulled over and shut the car off and waited, still nothing. So I went about my afternoon and had to stop at the grocery store. Spent about 20 minutes inside then came out and started the car up and guess what? I now have music.

Not completely sure what all happened, but Im taking it in for service just in case. Im sure they will look at me with doubt and tell me "we cant duplicate the problem". We'll see.

Anyone else have this happen? I know this stereo is pretty advanced unit and this may just be a self protective reboot or reset, but it sure was a bit scary since this happened on a relatively new car.

Had the same problem at around 5k mileage myself. Resolved itself after the next trip, was quite weird.

I have similar experience before, it reset itself while stopped in the stop sign waiting to exit the highway, since the car is quiet, I thought the whole car died.. I am a little concerned about this wierd problem, definitely something is wrong .. either software or hardware. Hope the whole thing won't die one day like my center control knob

My Lexicon system stopped listing the names of all songs on CDs. All it show is Track #1, Tracks #2,.... and so on. My car just past 5,000 miles.

Jeesh! Every time I log in to this forum someone is reporting another problem with their car. I've had the amplifier cut out a few times, but everything remained on except for the sound. I'm starting to wonder though whether I made a smart purchase because I have several small, annoying problems. Also, I called the dealer yesterday to make an appointment to have all of this stuff looked at. I asked about a loaner car and he said that they were fresh out of cars because of Cash for Clunkers but he would put me on a waiting list for a loaner and when my name came up I could bring my car in then. I asked if Hyundai could just rent me a car and he said, "Hyundai does use rental cars". So now I can't get service on my car because they don't have any loaners and won't rent me a car. If a week goes by and they still don't have a loaner, I'm going to inquire again about the rental. If they say no again, I'm going to contact Hyundai corporate offices.

To be fair, I think if you go to any forum for any car, there is someone reporting a problem all of the time.

As for the loaner, since that's not a benefit that was built into the cost of the car, it's at the discretion and availability of the servicing dealer. It's all over the board: some do courtesy shuttles, some do loaners, some do rental cars at the customer's expense, some do absolutely nothing.

This happen to mine yesterday (1024miles). What did the dealer tell you?

Im going to the dealer today about it to see what they have to say.

I know this stereo system is much more than just a radio these days and there could be a reason for it to reset itself or reboot so Im not all that concerned there is a real problem, but time will tell. Im very sure the dealer is just going to look at me, grin and say 'ok'.... :)

I'm actually going to the dealer tomorrow. They called me back and have a loaner for me. The service manager said he hadn't heard of the amp cutting out though, which is surprising since so many people here have complained about that happening. I'll have to be careful about the XM subscription if they are going to replace the amp though.

Why the concern about XM? Won't the dealer have it operative post-replacement?

If if makes you feel any better, my Cadillac CTS has done the same thing, as did a Chevy Tahoe before. In both cases they both started working the same day and never did it again.

Nothing more frustrating than glitchy electronic problems. Sure hope your dealers can isolate it and fix it.

Apparently the XM radio tuner is part of the same head-end unit, so if it is replaced, the radio ID associated with your XM subscription (prepaid trial from Hyundai or your post-trial subscription) will change. At a minimum, that will involve some coordination with XM: according to the T&C's (warning: PDF), that will result in a $15 transfer fee. I'm not sure if it will kill the remainder of the trial subscription.

I have 13,500 miles on my car, and this has happened 4 (or 5) times. Always the same. If I shut car down and start it back up, the system stays off.
If I leave the car for a while, like when going for groceries, etc. I come out and start the car, and all audio works again. This has never happened first thing in the morning, when the car was sitting in the garage all night. Only happens after that first drive. Dealer says that they can't do anything until they see it happen, as they have to test the system while the problem shows up. The next time it happens, I will drive to the dealer, leave the car running, and have the technician do his tests.

Because I know the audio will come back on after ten minutes (estimate) or so, this glitch bothers me, but not as much as if the audio would not come back on (after letting car sit for a while). The thing that worried me the most was if I received a phone call via bluetooth, I would not be able to hear the person that called me. If/when it happens again, I will shut my cell phone off, then back on again. Doing this, bluetooth will not connect, and I can use the phone manually. (on the next startup, the bluetooth will then reconnect)
I've tried it.

BTW, this is the only problem that MUST BE CORRECTED. All the other problems are problems that I can live with, as they are also temporary. I have another problem that happens whenever I park the car with the drivers door soaking up the heat from the sun, but thats another story/post.

Well... I went to the dealer today to pick something up and I just walked over to the 'kid' at the desk and proceeded to tell him this story. His response to me was.. "dude that sucks". LOL :D

anyway he had never heard of this being a problem (of course). I will keep you posted. Im still sure this was just a reboot and hopefully there are no internal issues.

I have some similar problem. My all XM preset stations will just disspear randomly. I have to re program it again and again. The CDs wont play the track names, only play as Track#1 or Track #2 etc like another poster.
very annoying to me...

I have over 21K miles on the car now, having had it for over a year. I've never had any problems with the Lexicon cutting out/quitting, etc. There is the issue of the loss of bass signal after starting the car, and moving the volume knob (that issue is discussed ad-nauseum elsewhere on this site). It's a great car, but has never showed track names of a CD that's playing. Wish it did, but it isn't a deal-breaker, either!

Love the ride!

This has happened 4 times. I have 4.6 and yes if I stop the car and go into a store and restart car in 10 minutes it works. It goes out when starting the car not when driving and yes it effects the bluetootk as well. It just came back on except no XM radio. I purchased the car 11/15/08 and have 9800 miles. I have not taken in to service for this because it corrects itself.

The key is to be able to demonstrate it in front of the service manager or technician. My guess is that your Lexicon amp is overheating and some kind of protection relay cuts off the power until it cools down.

Because the amp costs several thousand $$, it is unlikely the dealer will order a replacement unless they are able to observe the intermittent failure.
