  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lexicon System Died

This is a problem that has been posted on previously, since last November or so (see "no sound out of speakers" thread.)

Hyundai most certainly knows about it, and knows how to fix it. It is intermittent so chances are when you go to the dealer, all will work as it is supposed to. It does not have to be "witnessed" to be corrected. If the dealership says they haven't heard of it before, insist that they contact some sort of regional service manager.

Just posted that I experienced the same problem with my Tech V8 on the other thread. Hope there's a fix coming...

I had a problem with my amp cutting out, and it was most definitely because I had the volume and bass too high for too long and the thing overheated. Since this was the case, there is nothing Hyundai can do about it because they'll just replace the amp with another of the same model.

I went to a local car stereo shop and picked up a 12" subwoofer and separate amplifier to power it. They had to remove my 8" subwoofer on the rear deck to be able to hear the 12" in the trunk because the trunk is so well insulated. But now I don't have to turn the volume or the bass up nearly as high and I can rock as loud as I want to for as long as I want to. I may have voided the warranty on the electronics though, so be careful if you decide to follow suit.

The XM radio is integral in the amp a different XM radio ID will come up as non-eligible for the nav traffic and 1 year free XM. Most dealers do not know this and when you call XM they are not helpfull, they will need a letter from the dealer that they did s service swap and you will be with out XM for a while. Happened to me I live in a area where nav traffic is useless so I just bought life time service at this time and had my XM up and running in a few hours of yelling at XM

the only Lexicon related problem I've had is; on occasion when the radio switches from standard definition to HD radio the volume decreases ALOT. if I switch to another media the volume is at the appropriate level. Turning the car off and restarting fixes this issue. THis has happened probably 3-4 times in 6 months. AMP?

Now you got me thinking of "Leaving well enough alone", because it has only happened to me four or five or six times in the last six thousand miles.:mad:

I just had this issue with the Lexicon not having audio today. I futzed with it for a while with no success. Got out of the car to get some coffee, came back and everything was back to normal. After some analysis, here's what I think happened.

I noticed a call on my cell at about the time the audio died. I know that the bluetooth will mute the audio that's playing. I never got this call to the Lexicon. I think it disconnected because of cell coverage before it could be answered. Maybe they have a bug in the bluetooth that caused the audio to mute and not come back.

As far as it coming back, I think that when you turn off the power to the "head unit" it's not turning the power off to the amp until you exit the car and lock it. I noticed the under the dash lights go out at that point as well. Just a guess.

I previously posted regardig cutoff but restarting after being off for 10 minutes. Now XM gone. rebooted 3 times with success but lose it if car is turned off. Went to dealer and they said radio unit was bad. Radios on backorder. It is now 14 days! They won't swap out from another vehicle. After reading this thread I wonder what they know about the problem. They have given me a loaner when I left the car. They are trying hard with customer service. HUB Hyundai on 290, Houston.

I had my Lexicon/NAV head unit replaced twice, and quite frankly I'm skeptical about this thing lasting for the life of the car - note the warranty on the Lexicon is only 3 years. I know a lot of people trashed the aftermarket warranty companies, but after 3 months of intensive research I took the dive and have a 10 yr/100K mi bumper to bumper warranty now - that will cover the Lexicon if it goes out again. I found out it cost about $4200 to replace this head unit, and I'm just not willing to risk this one again once the warranty goes out - too finicky or this advanced of a system was just a little bit ahead of it's time. Buyer beware though - many of these companies have so many exclusions that their warranties are not worth the paper they are written on for value to the customer. Once you start getting smart on these it's alarming on how much is NOT covered in a lot of them.
