So, the Lexicon 18-speaker system sounds pretty good, but I’m wondering about a subwoofer.

Is there one? Can it be turned up? Change it?

I played in a live band for twelve years and I love the drum kit kick. Therefore, most instances I’ll pulling out most of the mid and pushing the treble and bass up.

What do you guys recommend?

There is a sub woofer but for some like you, not enough. Do a search and you will find a thread and even photos of some changes guys made.

I have found that the sub only kicks in at really low frequency, so it seems that the sub crossover is set really low. They do kick when the really low frequencies are played like in some of the artificial rap stuff.

quality of the source is critical. Plain FM will rarely get the sub and tweeters involved. HD Radio, CD or higher bitrate digital files make a huge difference. Sirius XM - fuhgedaboudit!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I cannot stand all the commercials on regular radio. They ruined it for me. Used to listen to it 23/6. So now I live on Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind and Hair Nation. It took a long time, but I did dial in my home system to get the woofers and sub just right. Without an EQ, I can’t copy it in the Genesis, so I may look into an aftermarket. I have an 8” Pioneer with a Memphis amp in a car-specific sub-box in my 3000GT VR-4. It seems happy no matter what, and because I kept the OEM head unit, I can only pick from a few EQ settings. Believe it or not Jazz is the best. When cranked, she does move the mirrors.

Sirius XM uses the most compression on their music, so the high and low frequencies are lost. Not sure if you have their phone app instead of using the car tuner or not, but I don't think their internet version is as clipped. (I refuse to pay for any extra licenses to listen on a different platform than my car, so I could be wrong). Alternatively, you could use Pandora, Apple iTunes, Spotify, etc. and enable high-quality streaming. Or you can burn your own hi-bitrate MP3s onto a USB stick. Loud music at a crappy quality may rattle the windows, but it still sounds crappy. Trust me, your Lexicon system is not being used to its full potential.

I'm not sure why, but I can't find a picture of the actual box itself. It was made with 3/4" MDF, fiberglass and bondo. Sealed, not ported. I believe it's about 1.6 cubic feet in volume. The front baffle is 2x thick. The top of the baffle bolts to the metal structure under the top of the trunk.
