  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I replaced the stock bulbs with a 6-LED bright white 37mm festoon bulb that I bought on Ebay. Funny, they don't mention that LED bulbs have a + and - end....
They lit up and looked great for about a day.
The right one has been replaced 4 times as it went dead. The left one is now intermittently strobing on/off really fast on the plate at night. Looks pretty cool, but Officer Bill won't appreciate it.
I really want to keep the bright LED lights on there but what do y'all think is up with all of this?

Don't know what's going on with yours, maybe bad contact or poor manufacturing of the LED bulb?

I've had single red high-power LEDs for each license place bulbs for about a month and haven't had any kind of problems with them. I did have to bend the contacts in the assembly so they'd fit right and have proper contact though.

Contacts seem good....I just replaced with a higher quality bulb.
I was reading that some transformers will cause led bulbs to strobe/flicker. Does anyone have any info on that one?

It would help if you gave us more details, like what wires you're talking about. My replacement bulbs had no wires that needed connecting anywhere.

Same thing happened on my girlfriends Sonata.

I changed both bulbs with high quality (higher priced) bulbs and it's never happend again.

I paid $20 for both bulbs, but they still look great, and should for a very long time.

I had exactly the same problem. I took the flickering bulb into work and two of the LEDS were bad. The strobing was interesting though. I did contact the vendor on Ebay. He said he would replace the bulb but was temporary out of stock. That was two months ago. Still no replacement.

I've been buying LED's for a couple of years now and 1 thing I learned that NEVER go cheap when buying LED's. I've learned the hard way though, and now I never have had a bulb stop working or start flickering.

My friends started catching on and really liking my LED's in the cars I've owned such as the Plate lights, so they had me order bulbs for their plate. Needless to say, I had one friend that had one bulb flickering, and another 2 friends with burned out bulbs.

Bought more expensive LED's and problem has been solved. I've been super happy with autolumination.com. Super service as well.

I've replaced my position lights a while back and the bulbs I bought for them were $8 a piece, and same with the courtesy lights and in the foot wells up front, but well worth it. No more buying 2 or 3 dollar bulbs for me.

Also, stay away from Ebay when it comes to LED's
