Is there like a rubber/plastic pad that we can place between the license plate and the trunk to protect paint from scrat?

Cut a piece of shelf liner or similar and stick it on the back of the plate.

Put a spacer on the screws that hold it in place

I stick felt pads on the back of my plates.

Good idea, thanks!
Thinking about it more, you can even buy self stick plastic bumper type things and just stick one in each corner. The ones i had were about an inch by half inch.

That's exactly what I was looking for!!

Thanks to everyone for their great ideas!!!!!!!!!

There is an extensive thread on this topic here. The silicone license plate frame will REDUCE the wear on the paint but it will still occur over time. IMO best solution is a piece of material mounted to the paint behind the license plate. This way the plate will rub on this new/sacrificial material not the paint. I used a soft/flexible foam window/door insulation tape.

Your welcome. Let us know how they workout. May decide to get rid of my present frame which has the dealers name on it.
