  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I lifted my G70 using the Quickjack so I thought I'd share my experience for others.

I have a Quickjack BL-5000SLX. This model is too short for the G70. The lifting points on the G70 are spread very far apart. I had to buy the Extenders for $239. Even the extenders (steel weldments that simply drop on top of the lift, adding 5-6" of length) don't quite reach the center of the lift points. I still made it work by using the standard blocks that came with my lift. I used the shorter ones but the taller blocks would also fit.

It's also worth mentioning I purchased the overpriced square pinch weld rubber blocks from Quickjack. These are not usable as they're too big to fit the relatively small openings that Genesis provided. The other blocks they sell that have the rounded top portions will likely fit in the openings in the car but they won't work with the adapters (or the BL-5000EXT which is essentially what the extenders turn the SLX into). The rubber blocks I'm using are not perfectly centered on the lifting points but it's working fine and I'm not worried about any problems developing.

If you're looking for the ideal Quickjack for the G70 I'd probably go with the BL-6000XLT. The downside of course to these longer models is they won't fit between the wheels of shorter wheelbase cars. The EXT and XLT stand zero chance of working for my S2000. I've also read they're soon releasing models that offer higher lift heights so those might be worth looking into.

^ how did you find the setup time and ease of use in general (once you sorted out the extenders, etc)? how much time would you say you saved compared to old fashioned jacks and/or stands? i have been looking at the quickjack as well but am on the fence. Costco has the 7000SLX, which is overkill for capacity but would work for the wife's Highlander as well.

the reason i ask is some folks say the time and hassle to lug out the heavy quickjack components, setting everything up, then tearing everything down is roughly the same as the old fashioned way - plus you need extra storage space.

They are definitely heavy and take up space. You can't be lazy about positioning them under the car of course. Since they're heavy they're not the easiest to muscle into position but once in place they work pretty great. You get to mess around with the hydraulic hoses and the pump as well. The setup obviously costs quite a bit more than jacks and jack stands.

The upside is you don't have to deal with having limiting lifting points that every modern car seems to suffer from. You can also easily get the car pretty high which tends to be tougher with a jack and stands. While installing sway bars yesterday the height was great and I was easily able to use a creeper.

The way I currently store them I don't have to move them too much to get them under the car. Without question consider where/how you will store them before buying. Also be wise about the rubber blocks that are bundled with the model you select or with which ones you purchase as they're not cheap. I bought some hockey puck style blocks with pinch weld blocks for cheap on amazon but they're not tall enough to work with the channels in the quickjacks. I could put something under them to increase the height but I'd prefer to not have too many layers.
