  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I paid about half that, but the car was in for an oil change and tire rotation at the time so they had other ways to make money. When I left my house it was OK, burned out on the way to the dealer so it was convenient.

Had an oil change 2 days before. Going to the dealership, no right turn signal. Got to the dealership right turn signal working. Not that familiar with the car yet. When I didn't have right turn signal, then I did, though it might be an electrical issue. Never heard of a broken lamp filament repairing itself. Oh well.

Oddly enough, I also need to do this and was wondering howmuch it would be. $40 sounds high.. =(

yup, $40. I'm sure any good aftermarket shop could change out the lamp, would it be cheaper? Since my car is still under warranty I was hoping it was and simple electrical issue. They did tell me if the light burned out within 12 months they'll replace it for free.

If that is all you had done, it may be the minimum billing. Mine was much cheaper, but the car was in for other service at the same time. I know it was less than half that but I traded the car and gave all the service records along with the car. I never looked to see how difficult or simple it is to change myself. Some are as simple as twisting out a socket but others require you dismantle half the front end.

Ouch is right. I had the same front turn signal burn out, and spent ~$5-6 on two bulbs. Had both replaced in about 10 minutes. Now it is tight, and I may have lost some skin on the back of my hand, but I didn't want to take everything out to replace them. I only took off the plastic shroud covering the front part under the hood.

It's a quick fix with smaller hands. Even with my med to large hands it wasn't too bad. Poping the clip retainers is super easy in our cars. Just press down on the center tab. That provided enough clearance to remove the housing cover and unscrew the bulb socket in my 5.0 config. All in all, 5-10min total in an AutoZone parkinglot.

are generic bulbs okay or do you recommend getting OEM bulbs? On my Sonata I haven't cared and did the bulb changes myself (or had the Autozone person do it ...). Any chance that jostling with the fixture could disturb the aim of the headlights?

I have a ‘15 5.0. The left bulb burned out, then a month or so later the right failed. The dealer replaced the bulb gratis on each occasion. A couple of months later as I was following a friend to a golf match ( I was following because I could not catch and pass his S600 with my 5.0) the replaced bulb was at 50% brightness. The dealer replaced the headlamp assembly, and problem solved.

I've had both sides replaced twice at no cost. The last time the dealer ordered and replaced new wiring harnesses for both sides. I read somewhere else that the original sockets were designed for a LED bulb, not a filament. So far, so good.
