  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok I know there are several threads on this subject but I wasn't positive they related to my 2016 Genesis which has the signature,Tech and Ultimate packages.
Just bought the lighted Genesis scuff plates and seeing as there's no wiring diagram would like clarification from the members here if this 2016 Genesis should have the corresponding plug in the taped harness found in the door sill that plugs into the harness on the scuff plate.
Or will I need to use something like ad a circuit to power the lights.
Hope I described this problem correctly.

Use the search feature for Illuminated Door Sills, or look through my posts. There's a separate wiring harness that comes with instructions. Basically, you run the harness wire from the driver's side sill plate under the dash and all the way to the wires bunched under the passenger panel in front the door. You will be removing dash panels. Not very difficult but time consuming and not for the faint of heart. The harness is about $40 from the dealer.

You can always find a closer wire to tap into. The illumination looks great in the dark but you can't see it with any light present. Good luck.

My son bought us the lighted door sill plates for Xmas but they were the only thing in the box. according to a PDF of the installation instructions my son in law sent me show the plates, harness and assorted parts in the set.
So my question is where do we go from here.
Seeing as he works for a Hyundai dealer he won't jerry rig the installation and risk warranty issues down the line.Im hoping the harness is available separately. Is it?

Ok, we now have the harness, one more question if I might'
Wondering just how long the install will take,my son in law who will be doing it is really quite talented at wiring and such,. Parts manager for Chrysler dodge.
I'm just curious as to if I'll need to leave my Genesis overnight.
This will be done at his home not the shop.

It's really just running the wiring from the left door under the dash, and to the right door. Took me several hours because you have to remove several lower dash panels. And most of all, I wasn't in a rush being a new car. Sounds like your son in law will have no issues. Let him know you can't see the illumination under any significant light. When you first check to see if the sill light up, you might question yourself. It has to be dark! It's so worth the install!!!!

My experience with the installation is the same as chris41's. It took a few hours, but was actually not that difficult. I can't imagine the project taking so long as to have to leave your car overnight.

Ok' all finished, that is a excellent kit, took my son in law hour and a half start to finish.
And they look outstanding!!😘

That is a very fast install! Glad it all worked out and they definitely are worth the look!
