  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

anyone have a lighted wing emblem on there genny ?
i saw a you tube , a guy had one on front and back , it looked great

Sorry thinking they look tacky!!🤣

"Sorry thinking they look tacky!!"

I concur.

The one I saw on this forum looked flamboyant, frilly, grandiose, pompous, pretentious, chichi, gauche, black velvet Elvis, pink flamingos, dogs playing poker, in general bad taste, which is the antithesis of the simple elegance of this car (what'd we ever do before Google thesaurus?).

Of course, it's a matter of opinion and I might be wrong.

I concur...
I have to align my opinions with those who feel the lighted hood logo does cheapen the appearance of the vehicle rather than enhance it.
I’ve heard similar comments from some on the Genesis puddle lamps as being a bit tacky... “trying TOO hard to get noticed” and I get that observation. However, I still think they’re pretty cool...and functional.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thought I've never seen these aftermarket lighted Genesis badges you speak of, every time I see one of the later model Mercedes cars with the 10" across back-lit emblem in the grill I think it's the most smug and pompous things ever....and it was like that from the factory... So I say it's not worth the effort to look just a bit more pretentious.

When I was a teenager and tires were still made of stone, the first thing we did was remove all emblems. Filled the holes with lead solder, prime, and eventually get a $29 Earl Sheib paint job. The J C Whitney catalog was car guy porn. One guy here did mention he took off all the emblems.

I would keep the hood ornament if it was on my Rolls Royce though.

I think it looks bad, even on the Mercedes GS and S models I've seen driving around here...

We have the lighted door sills installed and think their very cool looking and also the puddle lights, and while their sorta useless they are different and kinda cool looking! At least their the Genesis Wings and not just the name Hyundai’

Don't take this as anything but a legitimate curiosity, but I need to know your thought process on this. What practical function do either of these vanity items serve? I personally don't see the functionality in either the lighted emblems or puddle lamps aside from reminding people around you what you're driving.

Could you please clarify something. You say the puddle lights are a vanity item. Do you mean because of the Genesis logo? Or do you mean even a plain light?
The logo is 100% vanity though I don't see a reason not to have it when you can. People have commented on it favorably. The light itself is 100% practical in some dark places I park.

I'd not have the lighted emblems.

What major function does it serve? I mean, I get that it lights up the ground, but why? Do dogs routinely shit next to your car? lol

It's often the small details which add up to an awesome vehicle ownership experience. If functionality and practicality were primary factors in our vehicle purchases, we could have all saved a lot of money and just bought an Accord or Camry. Hah.

Aesthetics rarely have anything to do with functionality. ;)

With that said, I wouldn't care for lighted exterior badges. It's a bit much for this particular vehicle. But if somebody finds a way, post pics!

To really be sensible, that Camry would not have AC and a radio. Nobody really needs that fancy stuff.

A few months back someone posted a link to where you could order the lighted emblems.

Well, if I really wanted to, I'm quite sure I could find useful functionality and practicality for just about every neat looking feature on the Genesis.

AC = Don't want to die (It's TX).
Radio = Annoying passenger solution.
HUD = Safety, eyes on the road.
LED lights = Efficient and great visibility on the road.
Genesis approach light logo = Provides even light distribution without being too bright/dark.
Power trunk = Saves Time ($).
Pano Sunroof = Vitamin D source for all

Hey, it's all relative. Gotta justify those payments somehow. ;)

I'd not have the lighted emblems.

Especially if it has just rained and you cant see where you are stepping when you come up to the car. As for the lamp projected emblem, I find it more for my amusement than for anyone else to notice. Usually no one is around when I get in.
