  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

ive sold my subaru legacy GT and im pushing around our little econobox (pt cruiser) until i get my next car. Ive been looking at the genesis for a while. I like the low cost, its RWD (AWD is better) but at least its not FWD. Ive stopped by all the dealers nearby but non of them have a V-6 with a manual tranny so i cant take one out for a test drive to see how she shifts/handles. I really like the overall appearance of the car. Im looking at the V-6 and the r-spec turbo version. I LOVE boost, especially when cranked up over 18psi! However i want something with power and reliability so im looking at the larger displacement version. Has anyone pushed the V-6 to see what it can give in torque and HP? Dyno proof preferred. Can i expect big gains if i build the internals and go with a bigger cam? Will the drivetrain hold up or shatter after 15,000 miles?
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

check out youtube dude....and i doubt there are any people who have driven their brand new 2010s even up to 15000 miles yet...also, just from my experience with cars and tuning, the v6 model comes 300hp at the crank...now calculating for about a 17% drivetrain power loss for a rwd, you are looking at about 249hp to the wheels roughly...stock....now for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction....you beef up that motor with a stock drivetrain, of course it will wear out faster...i suggest waiting for the aftermarket to catch up with their r&d before jumping into tuning for big power...we dont know the limits of these cars yet....and many of the companies are still running their prototype parts...so all we can do is be patient and see how everything works out...

The Genesis has the flatter torque curve...40% more torque at 2500 rpm.

Yeah, the aftermarket has not caught up to these V6's yet like they have for the 2.0T. Most of the really cool R&D is being done over in Korea. Some of those guys are pushing 500hp out of the V6. But, the car is so new, who knows how long the tranny would last at those levels or even the rear diff for that matter. I figure a few more years and we should be doing well for the V6's.

There is a company or two working on a turbo kit for the V6 but those have been taking a long time with very little info and no ETA. There is one company offering up a Supercharger kit but it's currently $7000+. They are looking to try and get the price down by having more of the parts sourced/made in the US. They offer up two stages, 400hp and I believe 500hp.

Some believe that the stock rods should be able to handle 400 crank hp. But you'd be on the edge if not over at 500 crank hp.

I'd say right now most of the parts available are for the 2.0T. And if I had it to do all over again I'd still go with my V6 auto. It just really moves.

yea most parts are pretty pricey for what they are...mostly because how new these cars are...but thats how it always is....i expect hks, greddy, aem, and more of the popular tuner pros to tune into the genesis very very soon....then comes the ebay specials....i expect at least another year or two....honestly for as something as simple as a 90 degree elbow of aluminum piping and a cone filter, im not paying more than $50 bux for honestly...i could come up with that at the local autozone....but yea if you are lookng to go the n/a route be ready to shell out the big bux for quality internals and quality tuning....youre most likely going to need a good standalone ecm and lots of dyno time...lets see what theyre gonna come out with...a supercharged setup for your v6 might be more economical in terms of ease of installation. a turbo v6 might have some issues with fitment, along with alot more pipe plumbing research...all we can do is sit and wait for now...
